Darkness to Light.
Michael Edwards said:

As an artist I see in detail what others fail to see at all and when I point them out they are often quite amazed. If only they would learn to use their eyes.
Love the music but must say I prefer it when sung - by Renee Fleming for example.

It seems like such a long time ago to say the last century but how true it is that we lived then and have seen all the different changes in this one too - - some are not to my liking but that is so-called progress as they say Andy - thank you for the lovely music too.

I\'ve never had a problem seeing these places virtually everywhere but... eye of the beholder etc and... none so blind as they who WILL NOT see.

Good Sabbath Uncle Andy ~ Brian Here ! Thnaks for the BLUE DANUBE ~ it always makes us feel Romantic. We are waltzing round the Lounge with Smokey !
The LAST CENTURY ! I only experienced the last 17 Years & Angela the last 12 so we missed over 80%. So for US it really is HISTORY and a very exciting CENTURY ! Lots of developments in Science & Technology and TWO World Wars et etc. Despite 911 & COVID 19 ~ the first bidecade of the 21st C has been mild in comparison ! However we hope to see the better part of the next 80% and we are sure it will have some surprizes in store ! Please check our latest FUSION *What are Your Christmas Plans ?* and if you wish ~ please add a POEM ~ Thanks !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours

I find it frightening. Especially when I look at old photos - it seems like a different lifetime - almost as if I\'m looking at someone else.

In The Last Century.
L. B. Mek said:

distance is incomprehensible in its complexity,
light as time travel -
road signs whizz past in a blink -
memory so palpable it hovers just out of touch or fades lazily: yesterday\'s lunch morphing with that from a year ago, a decade even, maybe within deja-vu\'s grip as far back as a century...
good write, I\'m enjoying your nostalgia themed write\'s

That\'s the time traveller in you sneaking out through the chinks in the armour of disinformation given to you when you were reborn into the 1940\'s.
Who knows what centuries we have seen nor where in our previous incarnations.
Though some fear the nearest we will get to a different incarnation is a tin of evaporated milk on a supermarket shelf.

But look! They should not be suprised if we tell them we (you and I) did that 10 centuries ago! 1066, the 11thC.lol.

BRIAN HERE ~ Good Friday Afternoon Uncle Andy ~ Im home this afternoon getting ready for Holiday (Bournemouth Area) too Cold & Wet for the Lakes ! Nothing like a bit of Ultra-trad Jazz - with vocal - for a wet-essex-afternoon-blues ! I dusted off my Banjo and sat in ! Long time since we were last in Basin Street ! Love the sentiments in Your Ode ! Ever since we opted out of Nature and became *Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James ~ Manfred Mann* we have reaped the Rewards of *Global Warming etc etc* and lost sight of Mother Natures Daily Glories ! *When will we ever Learn ~ When will we ever Learn !*

Why does it take so long for us to find we love our world? Oh that we were all born with this as an instinct for we surely then would all take so much more care of it.

The Man From The Pru.
L. B. Mek said:

the only part of your memories I can directly relate to is the milk bottles, your mention of their silver caps - just sent me back whirling, within what I had assumed were lost monuments to hindsight\'s idyllic childhood scenes, specifically: preparing the Christmas time presents or the annual bonus tip or penning that \'will be away for a bit - note\' starting by addressing our Milk Lady by name - then asking how her family was doing (the small things) as a contrast to today\'s time when most written communications barely start by addressing the recipient\'s/addressee\'s name or we use that arctic greeting of \'Dear Sir or Madam\'...
what a wonderfully immersive and nostalgic write you have penned, Brilliant!

I relate completely Andy, the only time I guarantee I have a decent camera with me is when I travel, I always try to plan a day or maybe even just an hour in my itinerary to take some pictures

Memories - the milk cart drawn by a horse, the rag and bone man.
Actually although not on a personal level as in times of yore but we have now resorted to home deliveries in view of my wife\'s vulnerability - one from Sainsburys due tonight.

Evocative of those 50\'s days indeed. Your words took me back to the smell of the baker\'s presence and the rattle of crates on the milk float in the days of metal crates.
How they were a part of the glue of society, of community. They are gone and along with them are gone the society and community we all shared.... and look what we have replaced it with.....

A great piece from you Goldfinch and into my favourites for sure.

Seen one - a milkman! In a 1970\'s comedy show.
My question is - When was the last time you saw a comedy show? My answer - the 1970\'s or thereabouts.
Or - when we saw Parliament on the telly? Doh!

I was a sort of Milkman\'s Assistant, even before my teenage days. I looked out for the milk float. They let me deliver milk to some homes, and I had rides on the float. All have to be checked out these day of course - Criminal Records Bureau, etc.
We wish that was the only corona around these days too.

Loved your POEM it reminded me of the time - we went up Table Mountain. We were with our Friends Jack & Helen very very keen Photographers - unusually they had both forgotten their expensive CAMERAS. I allowed them to use mine to capture some Slides as they always gave talks on their Trips to Seniors. The views were awesome !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours

I know the feeling.
Many moons ago i became a keen amateur and collected a fine array of gadgets for my lovely SLR and became a right pain in the butt fussing at this and that to get the perfect (dream on) shot. Eventually i realised this and cut right back on my gear.
Couple of years ago i borrowed someones canon sureshot type of camera and was amazed at its versatility and quality of results. So i bought a used one for £40 off ebay.
OK so i still have my DSLR several film SLRs and a lovelt mamiya TLR but i know which one travels the most miles with me these days.

Einsteinium indeed... fleeting and only exists on the path from one element to another... kind of like love. I remember its atomic number because we used to sing the periodic table to the tune of 99 bottles of beer... 99 bottles of Einsteinium on the wall!
