Its been a strange sort of a day really, what is a tortoise shell doing on my cat? Your post is a real head scratcher which is refreshing in these horribly serious days.

Longing
Bella Shepard said:

Long ago memories, when enough time has passed it\'s as if they were a dream. The older you get, the sweeter they are. Thank you for reminding me.

Ah yes those entertaining days of time gone by and the lessons we like to kid ourselves we\'ve learned. Wisdom is a comfort blanket when just as you say beneath its warm smugness we want the thrill of the ride \"just one more time\"

The love of nature and existence itself flows through your words. Much appreciated here as a fellow lover of this place we call earth.

You have given me the ultimate tutorial in reproduction, genetics and physics in one glorious poem. My mind is expanded to the millionth degree. Thank you dear poet, for the expanse of this poem, and for the depth it reaches.

Very well done I liked the rhyme and rhythm very much. Great poem about the road less travelled (as I see dusk already said but it\'s true!) Great job!

The sentiment of your poem fills my soul to the brim. The cadence as I read it aloud is musical. The meaning is profound. A true gem dear poet!

All so very true. The \"road less travelled\" is a road which takes courage.

Amphigory

I didn’t even know there was a word for describing specifically a “non-sense” composition. AMPHIGORY. I swear the English dictionary is phenomenal with some of the words you will find. This wasn’t non-sense. It was a journey through the mind!

Prejudice
Rocky Lagou said:

That line, \"The rain that you smell is only the water from your well,\" is literally godlike. I mean zammm, that is one clever clever line. I love how you speak about human rights issues in your poems as I also like to prioritize that in my own works. It\'s so important in order to reach actual world peace. This is glorious!

Prejudice
Bella Shepard said:

Oh my dear, what a masterpiece! You have struck at the very core of Prejudice with such stunning accuracy, willful blindness, tunnel vision, call it what you like, it distorts the mind and diminishes the soul. So very well thought out and written dear poet.

love the impassioned, Fury
in your stanzas
but please take it all
with a pinch of salt, dear poet
we have to hope
we have a long way to go
before, our time ends
and so, we need
to pace ourselves:
“Grant me the serenity, to accept
the things I cannot change, the courage
to change the things I can
and the wisdom
to know the difference.”
Reinhold Niebuhr

Bella Shepard said:

I can relate to this this poem, with the myriad of reality television shows that we are inundated with here in the states. Survival in the wilderness (with or without clothes, with or without other people), buying beachfront property, rehabbing houses, and on and on ad nauseam. Thank you for this well deserved jab, very well penned.

Great original poetry here, i\'ve not seen this subject covered before. Good one!

I love your AAB rhyme scheme! Anyway, \"pretend warriors\'--video games. \"Having no moxie to face the worlds strife\"---Actually that could pertain to a lot of people but I think you are referring to social media here.....This is a great poem!!--Christina

Bella Shepard said:

I admit I had to google Euhemerism, (you are expanding my vocabulary), and I thank you for that. This is thought provoking and so beautifully written. I fixated on \"carbon footprints pressed into diamonds\", the imagery of that just blows my mind. Thank you for this wonderful piece.

Rocky Lagou said:

Wow I love this! I feel that boatman line refers to the trip made to the Underworld in Greek mythology in which you need to pay Charon, the ferryman of the underworld, a certain coin or else you\'re doomed to swim in the dark waters of the Styx for 100 years. From the title I feel that this could be an evolution from not relying on others to depending on yourself. Great job!
