but why, I wonder
there is so much our awareness
glides past, in every moment
yet, that we find traumatic
or merely problematic, is shoved
into our blinking awareness
like seating, front-row at the cinema
head tilted back
screen larger than the universe
sound as deafening as a scared pulse
and there on endless repeat
is our nightmares, manifested
in every way fantastical..
I think some of us should get medals
for daring to sleep...
