Fleeing the pain

On poetry sites we often see poets talking about their struggles. For, life is a struggle. Even the new-born struggles to live, to ask for milk, to ask to be attended to.
“chasing freedom” : the basic human wish to struggle free from oppression, from bondage.
“searching for light” : if stuck in a cave, we search for that faint glimmer of light that will show us the path to salvation.
“no matter how fast I run” : your shadow runs as fast as yourself.
Finally, in this life, there is nowhere to go. The poet finally has to take refuge in poetry. Soman Ragavan. 25.5.2025.
