Just letting someone know you and your poetic words are there can be enough Andrew - a compelling read on a topical subject and thanks for sharing it.

A very well done acrostic on such a heartbreaking issue. I\'ve struggled with depression for years but I\'ve been a bit better lately. Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us!

The Other

The Other is in us all at varying degrees isn\'t it? When we cannot control the other, the risk is great, yet so may be the reward, or perhaps dreaded peril. This write is pure genius. Your gifts are many.

Good write Drew. I\'m syllables-mad in my hymn-poems.
9 syllables I find a bit tricky. There\'s \'technical stuff\' though I have to find the tunes too:
8.6.8.6. is Common Metre (fits lots of tunes).
6.6.8.6. is Short Metre.
8.8.8.8. is Long Metre.
There are other combinations too, of course.

That is awesome that you could do a rhyming poem with nine syllables per line! Awesome poem, you did a great job!

The Other

Very good write and so true. Our \'altered states\' are there every day. We put on different masks for every different situation and the only person that knows the real you is oneself or your God if you are a believer.
It could be a fun experiment to try and write in different situations, I do it to some extent as I often see something in a coffee shop and write the words there and then.

The Other
Syd said:

Hi Drewp, I especially like the last verse

\"Through our Other self the key to our individuality,
is access to the subconscious of our own reality
become one with The Other for artistic abilities,
Take from it powerful, creative agilities

In doing so , we become the exorcists of our innermost demons\"

Sometimes I struggle with more complex poems as I have a simple vocabulary but I try. This last verse made it more clear to me. Great write - Syd

A thoughtful write Drew. My anxiety can bring on a stutter, if sever, though I don\'t suffer from stammering normally. Take a deep breath or three, then do what you need to do - maybe!

There\'s no glory in war Andrew. No one really ever wins. I think it starts with egotistical lunatics hell bent on seeing everyone else as lesser then they are and greedily want what others have as they feel they deserve it more. It\'s so crazy. I don\'t think you offend anyone as everyone knows wars are an unnecessary way to solve the world\'s problems. Great write.

conforming towards negativity is against my beliefs. mechanisms? some in societies work where others fail miserable and may lead to disruption. we each choose our decisions in life and what to believe in. your poem is about a million things and faith being the strongest throughout. an intense but with beautiful rhyming stanzas make it all the more thrilling. great write with an educated force.

This is brilliant Drewp. I also like your message at the end explaining how you don\'t wish to offend anyone. I can see how some may read this poem and take it the wrong way.

I too despise control mechanisms, I\'m not religious for that very reason. I am tolerant of others beliefs though. Each to their own.

Anyway I\'m rambling on lol. Great write - Syd

Good poem Drewp. I\'m fairly new to this site. I like how you can add an explanation to the bottom of your poems. When I read this for the second time it made perfect sense. Very well written, sorry for your loss - Syd
