Poetry is Dead

My comments on the poem \"Poetry is dead” by Ok Waleed
Poetry exists since thousands of years and has not died. For now it appears to be eclipsed by massive sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They have convenient, instant platforms on which to post stuff, to comment, to share, etc. They offer technological facilities. In themselves they have no poetry, no artistry. The facilities offered by sites should not be confused with the value of something like poetry. The CONTAINER should not be confused with the CONTENTS. Even if all these platforms were to disappear suddenly, poetry will still remain. It will be scribbled on walls of caves, on rocks. Old tablets existed before modern ones, though modern electronic ones are very convenient and can hold a lot of stuff. All those platforms are MACHINES and they can never replace people. It is people who are creative. It is people who created things like Facebook.
“Lucas on Wordsworth [1771-1850]
\"(.....) So today his is still a living voice, crying in the wilderness its prophetic protest, not only against the unhealthiness of all over-civilisation, but also against the drab brutality of the machine-world and of the mass-state. (.....) (Page 223).
\"(.....) It is always one of the hardest things in life to hold the balance between letting the world be \"too much with us,\" and too little : and Wordsworth tended to grow too much the hermit of Grasmere, the Grand Lama of the Lakes. But at least he never renounced his conviction that it is only states of mind and feeling that really matter; not things, nor machinery, nor even books (that was poor Southey\'s mistake) --- for books, too, are machines, however good ones. (.....) (Page 224). \"FIFTEEN POETS.\" OXFORD : ENGLISH LANGUAGE BOOK SOCIETY AND OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS, 1970.
Full acknowledgements are made to the authors, publishers and rights-holders.
If all contents are wiped from the electronic platforms, what value will these THINGS have ?!...
