OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
lysistrata said:

Thank you so much my friend.
I have friends whose father's were captains (ship and planes) and a brother in the army, who has served for the NATO Forces,so I think, I know....
I also remembered from J.Conrad's 'To - morrow':
"It was as if the sea, breaking down the wall protecting all the homes of the town, had sent a wave over her head...."

Lysi, your comment on my acrostic poem is so kind. It certainly made my coffee and bagel with cream cheese taste so much better. Have a grateful Thursday, Sonia.

MIDNIGHT IN SITKA PARK

AAAAAH YES - I remember it well - when we were young ! The pleasures of the PLAYGROUND - especially when we were still there past closing time - the swings - the whirlygig and especially the slide and yelling with glee as we launched into space like Junior Astronauts. And why not we are (alas) only young and innocent ONCE ! Beautifully crafted "free verse" poem on a beautiful subject ! Anchorage Alaaska - touched by the hand of the LORD ! BRIAN

The Warrior
Summersounds68 said:

Life is a battle for many. My poem, "The Warrior," reflects on how some people face their daily struggles. They see themselves as warriors fighting to survive within their own world of hustle and bustle. In some sense, they consider themselves as modern-day heroes until their lives are humbled by death. Their self-importance is no more.

Friendship Clouds
Summersounds68 said:

Even though cold and gray days can make us blue, we can lift our spirits by looking up to the sky and sometimes see the clouds clasping their hands in friendship. That is why I wrote this poem----painting a picture with words trying to erase the bleakness of cold days in which the sun decides not to peek through the clouds.
