One Summer Past

Such is a classic summer romance. When I look back now I realise that I wasn’t immune to this and was quite infatuated a time or two.

Loving the rhythm and rhyme, hoping it’s not a swan song of sorts, perhaps the year farewelling, now that’s an enticing thought. Superb images!

Very well written with great rhyme and rhythm it seems such a sad tribute to one that never loved or felt its joy. Very nicely done

Will you be able to extract her (assuming she wants to be extracted by you)? Well I hope you are in enough of a favorable economic position to do it...
As a piece of partly realistic poetry your POV made for a shattering description of her situation.
Worthwhile read. Thanks.

Some suffer terrible abuse, but stay just the same in a loveless marriage of misery. If only they could break from this prison cell. Topical write . It happens. Nicely narrated Kevin.

I see/read/feel what you mean! Part of my posting process these days is to get a general feel of what is currently being posted and reacted to. Otherwise I tend to barrel on oblivious to my surroundings. And as a result of that the poems suffer poor reception when they could have a better ‘life experience,’ in a manner of speaking. Now both of us posting on the same theme without first conferring - that may be connected to these efforts, somehow. Or perhaps my emotional state this time of year also has some part to play. Haven’t the slightest idea! But I also breathe ‘hating to see you cry.’ 🙏🏻

Hope is in many cases what we need, but not false hope and definitely not the deceptive hope peddled by those in power. But I digress. I suppose it is up to ourselves to help each other navigate the more and more unknown waters of life challenges.

If they had lived
arqios said:

The unfulfilled potential of young lives cut short is such a moving topic. Your poem\'s vivid imagery of missed milestones and the stark symbol of a white casket evokes a deep emotional response. It not only allows for grief but opens avenues of self examination and catharsis. Thanks for sharing.
