Time passes, technology advances, and the question becomes, is progress really progress? A deep poem that very nicely handles the issue of times passage in various ways and poses the question without asking it. Subtle and very well done A fave

Loneliness
Cassie58 said:
I heard Tennyson coming through in your earlier lines Kevin. There is a reminder in your poem too. Through its sadness it reminds me that loneliness is such a curse and it befalls so many in older age when loved ones have left this plane. Very nicely composed and I like the references to poets you gave read. All the best.

A compelling poem of loneliness with the good use of metaphor and how for some there is no companion found. Well written

A lovely write in rhyme and good meter I think it is the nostalgia of the piece that made it a fave. I too remember the old steam trains in South America that would traverse the countryside. The hustle and bustle of getting a seat for the hours long ride. Miss those days.

A fun poem Kevin. Light hearted humour. That’s the ticket. You reminded me of my brother. (sadly no longer with us) He used to study the Guiness Book of Records as a kid. A mine of information he was :) Have a happy Thursday.

This was a pure fun poem that put a smile on my face and for that I give it a fave. I think that this good Sir is up for a Darwin award.

I also would rather not but something is niggling deep within that it may be best to go when life around is all at its fullest expression so the grieving and leaving would be less harrowing… but then again, that notion may again change, as notions tent to do. 🙏🏻🕊

Well written with rhyme and good flow and meter it reads easily flowing off the tongue. The story definitely gothic in a horror type genre it has that feel. Loved the ending that is left open. Very nicely done

Weariness and Age
Cassie58 said:
From the souls we have lost- so true as we age, we lose more and more relatives and friends to the reaper.
The repetition works so well here Kevin to emphasize the passing of time.
Weariness and age, all at dusk. Time is running out like sand through an egg timer. I enjoyed reading you.

Weariness and Age
arqios said:
There is that sliver time between dusk and twilight, just when the light sensor can’t quite pick up the darkness and natural light is useless even to younger eyes… that’s the time of day kid rather not face; switching on the lights won’t do much at all until a bit later, so that’s a waste of effort and energy. It’s a time of listless and obscurity. Pity, because sunsets are so pretty. So one ends up being torn … good thing the night can come quickly, when it does…. That to me parallels the idea of weary agedness as perfectly transcribed into poem by your hand 🙏🏻🕊

A poem that made me smile. Yes, we all have far-fetched fantasies in our youth. As we age we become more pragmatic! I too ended up marrying a local girl... in fact she lived next door to me! She looked like a movie star to my eyes, and she still does, all these years later!

Begs the question: is there any other kind of fame like the rowdy kind?or the quite fame of love, intimate and separate? Nice one, Kevin. A whiff of W. Churchill, J. Donne, and T.S. Eliot blends in with other images and metaphors reminiscent of classic literature. A true joy to read and meditate on. 🙏🏻🕊
