Waxing Poetic

Erm, you\'ve lost me, with this USA poem. lol.
I will do a UK one maybe - \'Tally ho. jolly hockey sticks, very spiffing, how-do-you-do old chap\', etc!

A fine write Gary. Yes, it\'s more than little old ladies/men (or younger ones even) sitting in comfy pews, or playing \'let\'s go to church\'. More than a Social Cub, though there is friendship, etc of course.
Btu the unforgivable sin if we sit in their pew by mistake! lol.

Wonderful tribute to master musicians/artistic minds. So sad to see Eddy go. He was truly a voyager and discoverer of musical waters.

Doh! On a flippant note ya got me singing \'You need hands\'! A prehistoric (well, 1958) song by Max Bygraves among others. lol.

Yet you have handled the gifts of bread and wine (received them, or \'communicated\' to use a religious term).
A reflection of what has been so far? In good and postive ways I mean.
As one said to me: \'We\'ve just been talking about you\'. I replied \'All good stuff I hope!\'

Now look. lol. That will teach me to get too \'deep\' (my comment above).
I should be child-like and sing things such as \'Jesus wants me for a sunbeam!\' :)

Erm, a spanner in the works now?! I read a little. An author said \'God loves us just as we are\' is unbiblical! Not quite sure what the author meant.
Maybe meaning God does not love the sin in us.
Also, maybe saying \'God loves me\' does not mean we have licence to keep on sinning!
I might moderate the author to say \'God loves sinners but not sin\'.

Through Divine Concurrence and Conservation God Does Govern Mankind
orchidee said:

A fine write and pic Gary.I was reading a bit of \'common grace\' - given to all, just to be able to live/exist.
Also how in the Bible, in the Old Testament especially, God is often seen as the \'first cause\' of everything. Some puzzling verses too, such as \'I the Lord, create good AND evil\'. (similar to Isaiah 45 v.7, just Googled it!).

Can’t Kill My Soul
Gary Edward Geraci said:

Both are stinging, pesky, pests to be avoided O. This whole Mary veneration is only out of due respect for the reverence our Lord, our risen Lord, has for his mother. The mother of God! Incomprehensible but revelation tells us so. I so so so so hope to have a Queen in heaven O; a cherished hope - that she will take me to her Son my Lord!

Erm, we was rain-soaked early this year in the UK. I did a walk - fields had turned to lakes.
I never knew there was so much poeticisim in mould. Well, I knows now, and Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin through it - a genius!

Coward, Coward!
orchidee said:

Schoolboy/schoolgirl bullying can be beastly.
The first year of Secondary School (UK, ages 11-12) can be hellish, with evil \'initiations\' by the bullies and cowards.
Not as extreme as this, but humiliating things, such as \'You been pushed into the playing field holly bush yet?\'

Coward, Coward!

How well you deal with the question of cowardice. Often there\'s more courage in holding back than acting with callousness and disregard for the hurt of others. Very sobering read.

You will know the Protestant view is that we don\'t give as much prominence to Mary.
I don\'t use Protestant \'label\' hardly at all though.
Erm, we got a wasp or two in the UK. Does that compare to a scorpion, or is it a pathetic comparison?! lol.

Saints Defying Sickly Scientism
jarcher54 said:

Did the caller wonder if anyone has studied how the paths of hurricanes are affected by prayer, or if the Christian armies won the Battle of Lepanto because they prayed harder than the Ottomans? I have a friend that is convinced the many experiments suggesting that prayer has little practical affect on healing the sick have all failed because he personally prays for the unprayed-for test subjects, thereby messing the whole thing up! Thanks for clearing this all up for us! (-:

Good write Gary.
The Church of England (CofE) [Protestant] in UK, has this festival in some Prayer Books.
Our patron Saint of England, St George, don\'t get a look in (April 23rd); nor St Valentine! Probably thinks we are fogies, and bit eccentric chaps, messing about with Saints killing dragons, so it left us out! lol.

Holy Water Fount
orchidee said:

Good write Gary. I suppose on the Protestant view, we don\'t think of Holy Water (or have it) much. Some \'High Churches\' may have it. I got soaked once. Did not quite get the hang of it. Doh!

orchidee said:

Erm, there\'s a worldly gesture using the middle finger too - oops!
A guy at one church, not specifically RC, was so busy crossing himself and bowing during preparation, that I thought \'You\'ll be worn out by the time the Service starts!\' Doh! Up and down like a jack-in-the-box.
