In these times of lockdown and shielding many of us are finding a lot more time on our hands that we have ever experienced before in our adult lives.
Your piece has found the right time in all our lives for us to focus on your words.
But there is so much danger, especially for unfit older people like me, so we find ourselves somewhat limited to go out there and make life happen.

Thing is we always think things will stay and they never do .... everything is a memory... even just this minute that you read this..... depressing isn\'t it.

alarmingly those blisters manifest during swimming practise and that empty room exists somewhere deep within, meaning that hollowness is prominent even when busily surrounded by smiling faces,
a great gem you\'ve penned

Song of a poor scavenger.
L. B. Mek said:

there is so many ways to view the truth in the term: My way, as \'My\' is so intertwined with all the influences that curate our sense of self, though in your two exquisite stanzas you have outlined the simple pride in owning the choices we make in life.
No: not all of us need to adhere to society\'s tick boxes of assembly line - picket fenced - picture perfect family portraits: for our existence to be \'perfectly suited\' to our unique wants and needs...
sorry if I read too much into your writing and tarnished its meaning, a brilliant write!

Oh how true these few well chosen words on what is wasted daily by the many can become of use to happy scavengers. Such song of the poor is so very telling.

Oh my. You nailed it.

The night that does not end
Bearing fast down on them
Like an angry train

Yes, tied to the tracks, or maybe frozen in our own tracks, watching the locomotive in the distance relentlessly heading our way. I don\'t know whether to praise this poem or curse you for it.

Your every word pure from the heart! The message at the end, just beautiful! We should smile for the memories, and not cry for the loss! I do both! Reminds me of my father, first time he ever cried was when we buried my mother! I’m sure he smiled at her memories!

L. B. Mek said:

\'I loved Sylvie not because of who she was, but because of who I was when I was with her… to the world she may be only one person, but to me, she was the world…
maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
I don’t want to cry because it is over, let me smile because it happened…\'
such depth, such bravery to face pain and dig through its poisons to produce a timeless diamond for any who may be suffering with the debilitating suffocation that loss inevitably brings,
an astounding work of inked wisdom and pure authenticity!

Maybe it\'s irrelevant but as a kid I had a stallion named Castro... I would not geld him, so he was wild and only I could ride him, bareback because he refused a saddle and without a bit because he would not let it in between his clenched teeth. After I left home for college my father sold him to a family with several young girls. They castrated him and turned him into a gentle cantering pony. I bet they have his picture in their scrapbooks. I have only memories of clinging to his mane as he streaked through underbrush and leapt over ravines and fences completely out of my control. Not a picture of that in my scrapbook.
