One reason I never had a tattoo on my body not so beautiful..... i have witnessed too many blemishes which once were good intent upon bodies around me.

Death is so personal. Your piece is full of personal and beautifully written.

Because it is an outstanding piece of writing in it\'s own right I am honoured to place this very sad celebration of a beautiful life into my favourites.

I\'m reminded of a poem I once wrote, \"This Is Not Good-bye\". You and your friend will see each other again. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Life, to be lived
Memories, to be bequeathed
and for a lucky few
Appreciation for their endeavours: timelessly treasured, in that place where their most beloved,
pulse: a beat of hope.
till they too, cross over and join you...
(I\'m sorry for your loss
but, Glad you had someone so special grace your life
and, very proud
of these few words, you\'ve inked
crystalizing: the love in your tears)
thanks for choosing to share, dear Poet
(you still isolating? feeling any better?)

Never been but so many films have brough us Georgia both sweltering and wet. You took me to scraps of film stock in my mind to create my minds eye version and it was sultry, damp air with cool cool people.

To truly know ourselves we have to realise, to see and accept our imperfections. Your piece reads as a step along the path of true self awareness.

So many are fixed in a false vision of themselves and emit such contradictions as to make them a confusion of standards.

I hope covid will be gentle with you if you are unfortunate enough to have succumbed.

that unshakeable disconnect in life
between, what we hope for
and where, our choices land us...
I\'ll wish, that you don\'t have covid
or if you do
that, the universe grants mercy
and its not the worst kind
remember, never let your dream
of \'even better\': falter
cling to that wisdom, of asking
\'why did this happen: \'For Me\'?\'
never succumbing to the futility, in lamenting
\'why did this happen: \'To Me...!\'
(an insightful write
thanks for sharing, dear Poet)
\'this too: shall Pass!\'

Ambivalence, Hannah? I want to turn that into two separate pieces:
Top and tail (top and bottom) as one short sharp rebuke, while the body stands alone as a rich tapestry of experience.. (that\'s just for me, though - take not the slightest notice.)

PS: For an absentee you are very present - thankfully.

You phrased that so well. Many of us beyond a certain age and each with their own card of experiences will know exactly how you feel. There\'s much to be said for casting free and going it alone.

L. B. Mek said:

we\'ve all been there
for most of us, on both sides
of that blame coin;
left, tossed - dropped and scarred
scared, of reaching for once attainable heights
all cos, a mistake or a misunderstanding
that regret translated, as either - of us
not caring, enough
to prevent, the inevitable potential for demise
in all our choices...
wonderfully honest, thanks for sharing dear poet

Sadness and loss will always leave us with the pain of unanswered questions which cheat our perception. Time does it\'s healing thing and reason begins it\'s return to our lives. Time spent alone is so important when regaining strength and wise words on paper refresh the memories of newfound wisdoms.

Doggerel Dave said:

In terms of structure alone this makes, for me a great piece of verse Hannah, and I cannot help but agree with the sentiment already expressed re the dance โ€“ madness โ€“ alive lines. Although many attest to the idea that a close association with death can make for a greater appreciation of life โ€“ sports such as mountain climbing, motor racingโ€ฆ. Probably better examples... Not something Iโ€™ve particularly wished to experience.

Just a couple (or more) of quick points:
- Almost all substances we introduce to our bodies are capable of both use and abuse โ€“ even water.
- In the case of your marching powder, as with other illicit drugs plus alcohol, a large proportion of folks are able to use these recreationally and remain fully functioning human beings.
- However, with respect to this particular substance, itโ€™s consumption, I would argue, is highly immoral by virtue of the violence intimidation and death involved in its production.

But above all, thanks for the openness and honesty you displayed in bringing your experience here in the first place.

Many comforts and crutches come our way and the biggest life ruiners are legal. All around we see people being killed by them. Maybe the deep illicit ventures have the benefit of shocking our reality into realising what we are doing to ourselves - hopefully in time to take stock and action.
