Britain Breaking
BRIAN & ANGELA said:

Thanks GERRY for a very well crafted poem ~ presented in five quatrains and replete with rhyme and rhythm. The content is very apposite ! The 50+ (who have least to lose) voted 70 to 30 to leave the under 50's (who have everything to lose) 70 to 30 to stay. Such is the fickleness of Youth that we (I'm 33) voted in fewer numbers than the retirees. The tragedy is that hundreds of thousands of BREXITS (surely they are not all senile) now want to reverse the vote and allege "We didn't know what we were voting for !" S1. Says "We must correct this inequality ......... " S2. Leave so quickly ........ ? S3. A new beginning for change ....... ? S4. No end in sight ...... Skeletons ......? S5. A strange urge to break away into a different path ...... ? There is economic and political safety in numbers. The EU is much weaker without the UK and the UK is very much weaker without the EU. We have lost an excellent PM (let us pray it will be MAY !) and we may lose SCOTLAND with her Haggis & Bagpipes & Dancing & Lochs and Glens etc etc. Did none of the BREXIT voters give a single thought to the fall out ? Gove and Johnson (along with Tony Blair !) should be tried for TREASON. I am a European ~ Yours BRIAN

Africa Arise
DubbleDhee said:

Hi Gerry! This poem is good because it paints the Motherland in a positive light. The continent is depicted as a phoenix rising from the ashes "Africa arise out of the screen of banners forgotten"). Unlike another poem I read that spoke of doom and gloom for Africa. Nice work - DD

The road full of promises
Cheeky Missy said:

Very fascinating, and interesting poetic perspective on life/love and your telling explanation that we really have the capability to "deliver so very little." How very right!!! And thus we must even say, "if the Lord wills we will live and do this or that....", you know? This is sobering and excellent!!! I quite enjoyed it.

Inseparable love

Very fascinating contemplation, interesting exposition/exploration/depiction of "love" being thus inseparable.

A Kiss says it all
Cheeky Missy said:

Oh, this is a delightfully sweet study of love and it's allure and sweet enticement! I quite enjoyed the picture you drew....this was very pleasant to consider....the "thrill"...but it is only the last kiss of the night, right? Not a final goodbye? does the love expressed herein promise to last forever and declare itself to be the unique bond that two souls in equal affection share? Or is it only speaking of a transient affection so many have tasted, which while causing thrills, is only momentary nor of the enduring sort that lasts for all this life? Very interesting.

Birth
Cheeky Missy said:

Fascinating....you've touched on and depicted this existence, including the travailing creation which awaits revelation of God's saints....the new birth of everlasting life in the Lord Jesus Christ for those He saves. Very good depiction. Excellent. Or did I misunderstand?

"Even in dreams which make no sound"

This is so profound that it puts me in the same state trying to experience the same feelings you are writing about. Beautiful sad poem.

Heaven is a butter star
Cheeky Missy said:

Fascinating, very....especially considered in light of your comment.....heaven is a term applied, it seems to me, to several things....the sky with clouds, sunshine and rain, directly overhead; the place where Jehovah dwells, never seen as yet by us, beyond all we can see; and the dark vast seemingly limitless void(?) of space in which the stars, sun, moon and planets move and hang, just beyond our atmosphere where we send our machinery, such as satellites; as well as your allusion to being in the arms of our beloved...a heaven of sorts, too. Very interesting philosophical consideration. I enjoyed it!

The picture with this is so sweet and fitting. It's a very sweet tribute to memories of beloved ones. I like it....it's so perfect in it's depiction of remembering and missing someone you love....saying goodbye when you don't ever want to....and your comment describing it is so perfect. I enjoyed it.

Communication
Cheeky Missy said:

Fascinating. Wonderful admonition...to be communicative. And thus we write and comment, eh? Thinking about it, seems we've been communicating since birth, yet that provokes the thought that communication involves two at least...jabber on and never be understood...no communication. By the fifth stanza you are indicating that our actions for good are communication...or rather that our actions period are communication? Ya, like they say, "Actions speak louder than words." Interesting consideration on communication. I hope I've communicated and not for ill, in what I've written.

Farewell
Cheeky Missy said:

Your image reminds me of the irises...clipped off....so perfect for this piece...expressing visually exactly what you are saying. It is interesting for it sounds rather like you are referring to death, which farewell rather is....whether or not leaving this world, a death of sorts in relationships. Excellent,...you have pictured it very well.

I LOVE the picture...what is it of? The "old city"? Fascinating topic to tackle....when this mortal puts on immortality....I think I understood it....I like it. Thanks for it.

This is very cool. I look forward to reading your assessment of every month, if you decide to do something like that. I appreciate this fresh perspective on January, which I've been accustomed to being known as the month folk are so blue, since they've just come off the holiday season or somesuch.....maybe because they have the winter doldrums....I dunno, but this is a fascinating different, hopeful look at the first month of our year. I quite enjoyed it!

Afraid to love
Cheeky Missy said:

The picture with it is so perfect for he seems to be skeptically meditating in a good setting for contemplating how to ever trust again when screwed by "love." And it seems the only love so great to set the spirit free from fear, is the love of God, for "perfect love casteth out fear..." Is not love a choice/action on our part? And if we truly choose it, should not we be willing to suffer the pain that may be part of it?

In the dark
Cheeky Missy said:

The interesting thing is that you intend to take "the narrow road" in the second stanza, which is reminiscent of God's salvation. If that is the case, He will lead the way, and give us light.

Very fascinating, especially with the picture beginning it. I LOVE the romantic twilight of a warm evening, so this offers a very different, interesting poetic perspective to consider.

Very interesting. The fourth stanza reminds me a bit of what the Bible says about trees in contrast to man, that even cut to a stump, they will revive and grow...through the scent of water. Fascinating scene you painted.
