Hi D&B ... Many thanks for taking the trouble to comment on my little ditty! It\'s great that you know the town and that you hail from Liverpool where I commuted to work for two years before moving south. I remember well the Ford Cortina - I had a Ford Capri about that time - a favourite car! I revisited Southport last September and was a little disappointed over how things had changed from what I remembered - I guess that inspired me to write my poem. Go well and keep safe.
PS Great poem my Angela - I am keeping away from the shops for a while - vulnerable age etc!

GOOD EVENING CM - Brian here - Thanks for an excellent poem on the *Elegant Lancahire Town* Southport. I was born in Liverpool in 1983 so a trip to Southport in My Dads Old Ford Cortina was a special occasion ! New Brighton & Formby had beaches but Southport had an Edwardian Elegance especcially Lord Street ! We visited last Year when we were in Liverpool and it had lost none of its Edwardian Charm ! It retains a veneer of its former Glory ! The Southport Flower (since 1924) attracts thousands of Visitors ! 2020 was cancelled due to COVID 19 but 2021 is well underway ! Plan to visit ! Love the structure of your Poem (52 Rhythmic Rhyming Couplets) thanks for sharing & reviving Memories.
Blessings & Peace & Joy

Robin

The UK robin is a really brave little bird and seems less afraid of humans proximity than most species.
The blood of christ is just another stupid thing the christian churches made up and used to be able to get away with before the \'flock\' were an educated lot. The \'flock\' used to follow every word like sheep. I suppose they are still like that in the bible belt though.

Ahhh what a lovely image and tribute to the welcome robins....... I believe the UK robin is smaller and more delicate/sweet to look at than the US bird (who is still a happy harbinger of spring!)

So if one foot is always still, then the other one is doing all the work. No wonder i am this perculiar lop sided shape... you\'ve explained everything!
Would scuba divers surface faster if there were no bends?

You worked all that out now?!
I think one billion in UK has 12 zeros, but in USA has 9 zeros. Is that right?
It\'s quite a lot either way! lol

I can hear your voice in this poem and I can almost see your stream of consciousness flowing into the lines. I like how you have taken a seemingly mundane, commonplace item and activity and around them have woven a complex philosophical, reflective poem. I love the allusions: \"That enough explosions in a printing factory Could produce the complete works of Shakespeare\" & a Norwegian coastline With their fiords , coves , peninsulas and inlets\". I also like your contemplation about a \'soul mate\' for your broken biscuit. And I love that last line: \"Such important ponderings must therefore cease\". All in all, a unique composition that i am sure would reward further reading and study. Excellent! Well done! My fave line has got to be: \"Great thoughts and musings
Are prompted during dunkings\"

A fine write Classic. Yes, too long dunking and one has to dive in with the spoon to retrieve it. Or if too late, be carful not to choke on it at the bottom of the cup!

it is such a slow bleed that often we only recognize the extent of our bloodless upon truthful reflections. the scope of such we can only hope does lead to great regets but rather wisdom. Another good write that leaves one to pondering.
