We share the recitation but this one always Falls to ME ! It is a delight to recite but it deserves to be recited slowly and with great respect ! Anyone who can work the WORD *EUONYMUS* (Winter Creeper ~ Flowering Plant) into a Poem deserves to be Poet Laureate ! There are some other delightful lines in the Poem and in my Literature Classes for Adults I lend would-be-Poets a portfolio of about 12 Betjamin Poems and ask then to read mark learn and inwardly digest them ! I ask them to recite their fave and I play it back to the GROUP.. As Tommy Dorsey said to SINATRA to be an effective SINGER you have to *MILK THE WORDS like CROSBY* Its the same with being a PERFORMANCE POET ~ One has to *MILK THE WORDS* and JBs words are very very milkable !

It reminded me of the night my mom decided to give up her earthly existence and let her spirit fly to join my dad’s! I sat next to her and her last words to me were, “Let me go. Don’t cry. Just sit next to me. Everything will be alright!” I fell asleep with my head next to hers as she quietly slipped away! I feel cheated in the sense that we never said goodbye! That is what I constantly think about...and the tears flow uncontrollably!
I know if she were here she would tell me to stop the crying and to get over it!
I do try to listen, but it’s not easy!
My love to Joyce and to you!
I do think of her a lot!
