Have Pity on Us
Gary Edward Geraci said:

There’s a spark of God’s image (and it follows for us Trinitarian Christians, of Jesus Christ) in every human being that has ever walked the face of this earth; whether openly admited or not. I read in a similar article how Rev. Graham consulted with JPII regarding the many Catholics whom would attend his Crusades; how to speak to them regarding his famous “altar calls.” It all worked out for the better I think and what followed is more like what Jesus Christ prays for in John 17. My wife and I loved watching the portrayal of the young Rev. Graham meeting the young Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix original series: The Crown.

A fine write Gary. I know what you mean. The next Sunday is sometimes called Low Sunday - people disappear from church after Easter. well, some anyway!
Arrggh, a bit of an ominous name for a Sunday - pews deserted?! If ya have pews, that is.

A fine write Gary. yet the new is far better! Do they still put out Gideon Bibles these days - in the drawers or on tables in hotel rooms? I have one which had its 48th anniversary recently! Given New Testament in school days. It got lost, then found again!

We might \'rubbish\' ourselves, and even \'rubbish\' God, if we fall into some temptation of :\'God\'s let you down now\' or \'I am worthless\' etc.
Our chile con queso wouldn\'t be worth dipping into apart from Christ. We\'re made \'good enough\' in Him, thankfully.

A fine write Gary, thoughtfully linking the themes. You know me - no transubstantiation, but the Communion still having the same value and worth.
On a lighter note - what rhymes with transub.......?!

A fine write Gary. You know, I expect, I would adjust it - to maybe a plaque from an Archbishop (Church of England / Protestant)?

The age of faith will be the golden age truly what need for hope if one has faith? only to hope that others find faith....I have enjoyed your poetry Gary and invite you to read a poem of mine called Deeding Calvary\' not necessarily for my own vanity but mostly because I think you might enjoy the biblical aspect as you have obviously studied..PEACE

I really enjoyed this powerful poem. Indeed a poem of love. My own favorite poems are derived from my religious studies they seem to offer(for myself) a sense of otherworldly peace through my own understanding

A fine write Gary. Though I differ, having always been at churches where the host is not seen as transubstantiated. In my hymn-poems on this theme I often point out that it\'s symbolic, for me anyway (my Protestant leaning).

A fine write Gary. I vaguely remember the \'ages of reason\'. Is seven the final one? Seven seems symbolic sometimes.

Good write Gary. There are young people in some churches I would say - \'all-age type churches\'.
But are some \'dying off\' through the physical ages of congregations, or are they \'holding on, soldering on in faith\'?
Or is it a bit of both?

Good write, and true Gary. Beginning of John\'s Gospel..... Though I might cringe if modern version used \'snuff out\'! (John 1 v.5). Same as if \'whooppee\' or similar words appear in some places in very-modern translations.

LOL! That puts us in good company Hood; with Pope Francis too; he puts himself in the “goat” category as well: asking for

A fine write Gary. Yes, a going on gradually, plodding on maybe some days. I reckon the \'try harder\' and \'go faster\' are linked to man\'s efforts to try to earn their own salvation, or trying to earn part of it. It can\'t be done though.
It\'s like trying to jump an uncompleted bridge. Whether the bridge is 50% or 99% completed, we still fall in the river by our own efforts.
