Thanks Augustus - for me, the absolute desert of liberal arts and humanities courses in my civil engineering degree program now necessitates such \'extreme measures.\' All kidding aside, I enjoy reading the craft books and seeing the poetry examples, The struggle to write something meaningful is the payoff.

The Candle

Thanks Augustus. I\'ve gotten in the good habit of praying every morning; first thing after waking up. I light a candle and from time to time, look up from my reading and into the flame. That\'s when the prayer really takes off as I begin to imagine all those around the world whom at that very same moment are sincerely praying before a candle - just like me.

I am amazed that you can read a book about crafting a poem and then do so. (Your engineering degree is showing) great message about black market arms.

The kerfuffle is often over the word \'Trinity\' which does not appear in the Bible. But there\'s enough in the Scriptures to convince us of a Trinity = Tri-Unity.

It seems the software platform here has an adversion to apostrophe\'s but only after one decides to edit. \"\\\\\\\\\" is the result.

Thank you Diamond. Your comment is humbling; to realize one\'s words can truly move another\'s heart. Better yet, Another\'s words, are doing the \'moving\' - my pen is just the instrument. Either way, the glory goes to God.

You\'re welcome Fay and thank you for commenting. Praying for fortitude while reading the first stanza of James George Deck:
\"O Lamb of God, still keep me
Near to Thy wounded side;
\'\'Tis only there in safety
And peace I can abide.
What foes and snares surround me;
What lusts and fears within!
The grace that sought and found me
Alone can keep me clean.\"

A profound search into the spiritual journey we as humans all take - - your pen describes the vast difference between true love and the counterfeit of lust which dominates those who know only the need to satisfy physical senses. An enlightening read Gary and thanks for sharing it.

Drum Machines Don\'t Have Souls
Gary Edward Geraci said:

Yes, we indeed become creatures of our most immediate, sensual experiences. Faith traditions that recommend frequent, daily prayer, prayer made throughout the day, do so as an antidote to sensual overload - the risk that only what is immediately apparent to us through our senses will ultimately define our reality. It\'s not because God needs our prayers that we pray but because we need our prayers. We are creatures of both natural and supernatural qualities. Rejoice!

Thank you Phil, your comments are encouraging. Your answer to the question \"Why leaves?\" adds a dimension and perspective unique to that of my own yet is one that I will happily concur with!

The ways of life graded by the grandeur of leaves, very unique expression of life\'s values. A terrific piece of writing, colorful, interesting, and with a very deep meaning. I asked myself, \"Why leaves?\" and then thought, are leaves not the greatest, most colorful expression of recurring life. Great poem. - Phil A.
