The battle of the bulge
Goldfinch60 said:

It takes a great deal of mental strength to forego some of the wonderful food that tempts one. I too need to lose some weight and in the past when I have lost weight all I do is still eat what I like but in smaller servings, it seems to work for me.

I thoroughly agree with you. Manners are being seriously eroded in today’s culture.

Growing Old

Age is just a number, I reach the three score years and ten next month but although I am slower than I used to be the glory of life is still enjoyed.

I remember the summer of 1976 when our garden in Kent was almost totally white. Rochester is built on chalk.

A fine write Retired. Me too - only seen the outside.

Good write, giving is much more rewarding than receiving and if you can give time it is the most precious gift of all.

Excellent piece of advice and a needed reminder of how short is a lifespan -- - yes indeed how we give is far more significant than how much we take. A great read.

The Handbag
D. K. Heqet said:

This was a great depiction of a handbag. You never know who or what you might find in them! Hell, you could even lose yourself. But at least those with handbags are always prepared (if they can find anything quick enough).

Oh my word yes. Memories of attempting to find lost keys and a near broken wrist.
Does it matter how many handbags are possessed? Is each one a holy grail in its own right? I fear that is the case you know.

The Handbag
Goldfinch60 said:

So very true, I nearly lost my fingers once as I tried to reach for my wife\'s handbag.
Our daughter has a handbag large enough to carry the world in it!

The Breakfast Buffet
Goldfinch60 said:

I eat muesli at home, when in hotels I have the Full English Breakfast WITH black pudding. When I was working I used to drive all over the country installing computer software and used to stay in many hotels, one up in Hexham I used to use a great deal and they got to know me. One morning I went down to breakfast and ordered my normal Full English, as did another guy unknown to me, the meals arrived at the same time and we both said together, “Where’s the Black Pudding!” They had run out.

Whoops! You would have got your own back on them, if you had! (last line of poem). lol.
In a \'Carry on\' film they used a funnel and rubber tube up the botty, to get a confession from a scheming doctor. They tried other things too, but that \'enema\' was the torture he could not endure, and he confessed! You may know the film.

Goldfinch60 said:

Good advice and very true. We all have it within us to keep reasonably fit and healthy without having to resort to costly diets or gyms.

Eat less of what you enjoy,
walk quickly to the pub!
