I really enjoyed reading this,
A fine write indeed!
Although I’m genuinely sorry about your news for you and your son,
You portrayed your unfortune wonderfully in this poem!
I hope you can relax your mind enough sometimes to finish a reluctant task to feel accomplished and to quiet your active mind sometimes to enjoy a good book!

Sometimes our eyes are opened to our own problems in an unexpected way. Your words explain the problem very well, I do sincerely hope that you can find a way to relax in your retirement.

Good limerick, I hope your wife enjoys her running, I thought about it once but went and lay down in a darkened room until the though went away.

Very good, those morning walks can be so special and as you say the joy you get from them is free.

Very true, I too enjoy photography and it is surprising what you can see in life through a lens, With a lens you see not just look.

Oh but it was cold last night!
It can be a grumpy scene when you cannot sleep. I hope you both survive.

Counting Sheep
Goldfinch60 said:

Some nights are just like that. The funniest ones though (when looking back on them) was when my wife was having hot flushes, suddenly in the middle of the night the covers would be thrown off the bed with the cry \"I AM SO HOT!\"

Deadline
Goldfinch60 said:

Good write, we all still seem to have deadlines in our lives.

Surely though in our retirement that deadline can be extended so that we can have another slice of cake.

You missed one, one of my favourites is lemon drizzle cake.

The prefab

So nostalgic - I also remember them - there were several not far from my home which, although it did suffer some damage, came through the war in one piece. It is no wonder that many older folk voted Brexit. Enjoyed this great write.

Time to Diet

Good fun. I wish you every success with your weight loss/fighting the flab.
I can strongly recommend a ketogenic diet (google it). You can stuff yourself with correct foods and so long as you dont eat any of the \'no-no\'s\' you will not feel hungry at all..... i lost 7 stone.
