New Year sunrises and their promises
Bella Shepard said:

Could we but return to the moment of birth when all was a blank slate, and carefully write upon it the hopes and promises of the future that we vow to achieve. This is such a powerful and thought provoking poem dear friend, and such a wonderful toast to the New Year. May we be born again. Such a fav.

O my days how strange the word Liquidating came up when I was writing today and I say with the word for awhile.
Then my first read of the year comes from a shining soul as you, I hope these words of yours I absorb can bring me that defiance I need!
Keep up the write my friend

This truely is a well thought out toast. If we can only live up to each of these lines throughout this new year then it will surely be one of the best of all time. Each stanza with a wonderful metaphor. The third stanza was particularly vivid with the \"quicksand starting line\" and yes ending it with \"letting love levitate\" was a great finishing touch.

Such sound and well expressed reasons for letting the new year begin with a review of its promise dear friend. A delight to read and agree in the final line how we best meet its challenges - --yes - by \"letting love levitate! \"

Epic in its nature. I loved the lines \"now jail cells of inevitably to racing Time\'s betrayal\" \"digging, digging, digging with that trusty QUERtY shovel\" This piece takes a hypnotic approach on a journey through and to the minds eye. The pacing was wonderful.

Dear friend you have shifted the focus to where in needs to be. We all should be grateful for the little things that we take for granted. A very nice write contrasting the bad with the good, on which you end. Not just at this time of year but all year long our focus could be on the wonderful things we have not coveting what others have, while neglecting their problems. Loved it.

Dearest friend, you have captured the very essence of the world in which we exist today. I say exist, because we seem to have lost the way in which to live. To live is to find a reason for it, and in your gratitude you have done just that. It is always a privilege to read your words and benefit from your insight. You give me much to think about, and for that I thank you. Peace and love to you in this season.

So true, as wonderful as world wide connections can be. It only magnifies the dark side of humanity. By the end of the year we need as many uplifting festivities as possible.

Lord, I was not expecting the undercurrent of this piece to be as serious as it was. But this is such a message. As a person who had suicidal thoughts myself I can say that you are truly doing justice to the \"unnoticed\" and \"unspoken\" that you\'re talking about in this poem. Thank you for giving a voice to the ones who feel like they have none.

L.B. this is the dark side of humanity. War is as old as mankind itself. We need a social revolution to take us out of the stone age and give us new tools as a fire to warm us with compassion for one another, and a wheel to carry us beyond our own self centered view. War is hell, and until we can give it up we will be living in our own self created hell.

Chilling and true. Looking back over my short time I see a withdrawal and isolation that was never there in the past. We have become estranged as humans. What nature has taken hundreds of thousands of years to create we are destroying, our own humanity and place as social beings. A chilling poem, Thanks for sharing it.

LB,
I think of the many both the unknown and the famous whose cries went unheard or unheeded. I am reminded of the words of the great, Theodore Geisel, “We can and we must do better than this.” Thank you for sharing this flickering of nature, this now spoken reminder that caring can make all the difference.

Your words L.B. on those screams often unheeded is read with a heart full of shame that even in this special season with its message of giving our species can so easily side-step from aiding those most in need. This piece belongs in my favourites.

This poem can not be read fast. Not only would it be a tongue twister but it deserves deep contemplation. Like the topic of the poem itself it poses a profound existential question. In fact it is the very basis of existentialism. The whole first stanza is poetically wonderful and I wished I had thought of it. The second stanza reminds me of the etymology of the verb \"to be\" which originates from a time where only was to indicate to exist was to say to breath and thereby the link to the existential question or who one is. \"strife a prerequisite of breath\" The last stanza again calling upon poetry as a means of organizing this existential crisis as a form of, as you so brilliantly say \"offer safety from myself\". This short piece is truly a work of art.
