I’ve always felt like an old soul myself, in the sense that I feel like a 70 yr old in the body of a 19 yr old, lol. The way you use the term as a reflection of your roots though, as you so beautifully articulate in this poem, is beyond beautiful. “Time itself had to wait for me” is such a powerful line. I think this poem has given voice to the many who came before you who didn’t have the platform nor opportunity to do so. 🤍

I love this poem so mucchhhh. The description of a grandma\'s pure love, and the way you sort of snapped the reader back to reality with the cooking that\'s taking place at the end, ugh it\'s just so good.
I suddenly miss my Cuban abuela\'s warm embrace, she lives in Miami and I\'m up here near Atlanta :,(
