I fell in love as soon as I read this pretty number capably giving a winsomely realistic perspective on the annual holiday. So deliciously rendered with gorgeous imagery and a tantalizing poignancy. Thank you so very, very much for sharing.

A poem of heritage and its importance. My heritage also has a line to Ireland but is much more distant. A fun read on the appropriate day of the year.

Indeed, my parents don\'t do poetry either; yet, I do and they raised me. Must be something to it! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ But this poem did get me thinking. My parents sure did support my poetic efforts when I was younger and, well, they still do. So, that counts for a lot, methinks. Well done, Tom. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘

They support you so much thatโ€™s plenty of poetry to go around in the family. In my neck of the woods being a poet is anathema and they turn a blind eye lest I turn into pariah. My dad in his last decade started trolling my poetry on the net. So there was a kindly turn. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Poetry is more than words it can be shown in love and so it is in this poem. A great poem that builds from the very start of zero to the end where I am convinced that your parents understand the heart of poetry.

Oh you! There\'s a subtle humor woven through these inauspicious stanzas which leaves a mirthful smile on the lips in concluding. Charming and winsomely rendered with gorgeous imagery and a plucky, determined poignancy haunting it. Like dear Shakespeare, you\'re so charmingly loveable. Thank you so very much for sharing!

I was wondering where you\'d gone. I guess sometimes it\'s good to take a \"break\" and let things ferment. And not be too greedy!
A funny rhyme, Tom. Loved it! Now, how to \"try with all our might\" and yet be effortless at the same time? (Is that a koan?!)

Poetry isn\'t for me

Yes , some people think you have to be part of the โ€˜Eliteโ€™ to do the โ€˜Artsโ€™, go to University etc. Jack Vettriano was self taught and the Critics looked down on his work; but he was/is hugely popular. And Lennon and McCartney couldnโ€™t โ€˜Readโ€™ Music, But wrote some of THE most famous songs. A fine Poem.
