Grief

I think if its a short period of time, you might move on a bit quicker.
When someone is in your life for 47 years, and suddenly they\'re gone, that\'s a mammoth loss.
Some will say a day at a time does it.
Maybe that\'s true, but do they ever ask.

A poem that voices grief over the loss of a central pillar of strength relied on for so many years and the question of where one goes from there. The answer is strong and held in the last line of the poem \"And the pieces that belong, at last, to you.\" Very nicely written.

Your writing is so refreshing and goofy. It has a rhythm like a song. I really enjoyed this piece. I loved how you said the coffee sits cold and the sun slowly climbs up waking us up, it felt like I could read this to a kid, and I am sure the child would giggle and smile.

Oh gentle Jesus I can relate to this. So many times we try something and feel that feeling of \"why bother\".Negativity rules the world and the only hope is to hide in a cave with a small fire to keep warm.

Friendship, this really hit me hard. There is such exhaustion in these lines…not just creative exhaustion, but the weariness that comes from feeling constantly measured and judged. I, too, know this weariness. The emotion feels raw and honest throughout. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Friendship, this really touched me. There is such a deep sense of love for place woven through every stanza. Even with the sadness of change and distance, what shines through most is the enduring connection to home. Beautifully done, and beautiful photo. I could get lost in it, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Aww, maybe just writers block for a while? But could be something deeper. I dry up at times with writing poems. Write away, as and when you feel a poem coming on. :)

This poem calls raw from the inner soul. It sets forth its message in good rhyme and meter flowing forth as an emptying of the vessel. It is a cry of exhaustion seeing past efforts as useless failures. Yet it so poetically expresses what it says is no longer there. Artists often do not see the value of their works and this is a good one. Very nicely written a fave

Nostalgia for our past and all it held is in this poem. It talks of memories now only that and the desire to return to what no longer exists. A lovely write with a wistful and sad feel. Very nicely written in rhyme and good flow. Well done my friend.

Paul Bell said:
That what good friends do, they\'re there when needed.
I think after loss we tend to compartmentalise things, and it looks like this is what you\'ve done.
Maybe a quick phone call and a catch up is needed.
