Good write and tribute, it is just a shame that those with the power cannot stop these brave men and women having to march in \'foreign places\'.

Faces In the Mountain
BRIAN & ANGELA said:

This is a very BEAUTIFUL Peom TERESA ! We call them \"Picture Poems\" in which the poem \"paints a picture\" relating to the TITLE ~ in this case ~ FACES IN THE MOUNTAIN. Whenever I look at a Hill or a Mountain ~ I see ever changing images ~ faces ~ forms and suggestive shapes ~ especially somewhere like BRYCE CANYON ~ USA. The other point you make (and this is my experience too) is that the images are dynamic and not static ! In BRYCE CANYON ~ they constantly change with the movement of the Sun ! This is an excellent \"Picture Poem\" because it stirs my imagination and brings to memory all the \"faces\" I have seen ~ in all the Mountains I have enjoyed ~ it is a delight to read and meditate on ! You might get a negative critique but only from someone completely lacking in imagination ~ who sees the mountain but fails to see a single face ! Love it ~ Hugs ~ BRIAN (UK)

I have to say, it seems like you have an insight into a soldier\'s mind are you a veteran or an active soldier? Or did/do you know one? My dad served in the military (U.S. Airforce) that\'s why I ask,.....

World War I
Goldfinch60 said:

Very good write but unlike what DS/KS says here in the UK World War One is NOT forgotten. We remember various battles and situations that happened a century ago, next year will be the Centenary of the end of the \"War to End All Wars\". I have been to and taken part in many memorials in the last few years remembering \'The Fallen\".

Thanks for sharing another War Poem ~ Teresa ~ We have missed you. The TRENCH WAR if WW1 was a disgrace and should never have been condoned by two (so called) Civilised Nations Britain & Germany (and others) in the 20th Century. There are many poems ~ most of them defamatory about the WAR by in Praise of the Men..And the great LIE ~ DULCE ET DECORUM EST PRO PATRIA MUNDI ~ iT IS SWEET AND GLORIOUS TO DIE FOR ONES COUNTRY ~ By Wilfred Owen who died on the last day of the War ! I like the fact that you have used RHYMING COUPLETS which gives necessary pace and rhythm to an excellent poem. Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN

Paratroopers are indeed a brave lot. They are first in, usually, or the only ones in on certain secretive missions. On landing they are alone, to fend for themselves and to remain unseen. It\'s a scary business and requires an extraordinary amount of courage. You have done them justice with your poem. Loved it. Keep on writing. - Phil A.
