Thanks MICHAEL ~ as is your wont ~ the picture perfectly complements the poem ! Globally we are becoming more Urban annually ! Scenes that you picture & paint & poemise are in fact disappearing fast being replaced by faceless Malls as in the USA. We must fight (in the UK) to preserve our amazing Villages and Green Belts. Concrete is the root of all Rural destruction ~ BRIAN

I can relate. I love the picture and your poem is very telling about the future. We have enough huge buildings and roads. Too much is just too much.

Rich with poetic eloquence the verse epitomizes heedless uprooting of much old countryside legacy in place after place -- a triumph of a poem along with the wonderfully alive watercolour - thanks for sharing both with us Michael.

Funny limerick. Awesome painting. I guess the inventor was unhinged. Whatever. It sounds like the doors on my house. Nice bit of humor to start my day. - Phil A.

I\'ve heard many praiseworthy compliments on the value of \"moonshine,\" but none spoken as eloquently as this, but then you mean moon light. So here\'s some praise: \"The silver line of lunar rays,\" Their footsteps grind on gravelled paths,\"\"and deep beyond her gibbous eyes,\" are unique and beautiful lines only an artist would pen. - Phil A.

I see the \"Outburst\" in your painting and the \"abstraction\" in your verse. Wonderful together and separate. Enjoy your break, filled with inspiration hopefully. - Phil A.

It is all in the city council\'s hands. Developers donate heavily to their campaign funds. I love the contrast.

MendedFences27 said:

The \"Retail Cycle\" is being accelerated by on-line ordering. However the underlying problem is population growth. Maybe convert all of the closed Malls to housing. Your poem captures the rise and fall of Big Box stores precisely. If only we could keep all of the villages intact Love this one - Phil A.

Great Visual MICHAEL ~ conjuring a bygone age ~ before the whole of England is encased in concrete. Every person in the USA has eight times the space we have in the UK and it shows. Concrete prevents drainage and each tree and blade of grass reduces photosynthesis which removes CO2 from the atmosphere and replaces it with oxygen. Urbanisation is one of several reasons that the % of CO2 in the atmosphere increases year by year. BRIAN.
