A fine write gold.
Now it\'s started me off singing - that first line. Bit old, dates from 1943. Oklahoma film (1955).
We wouldn\'t know the newer film (apx 2011) being very old!.

wonderfully fun read Andy, like your use of rhythm and tempo to set the jovial mood from the start,
but I guess the character in the write was only showing \'a side\' to everyone looking from the outside, sometimes we all need a quite moment to contemplate and gather ourselves,
a clever write my friend, just what I needed on a dull Friday morning

Good write Gold.
I been on a couple of walks, not particularly deserted areas. I saw a person in front of me, then they turned a corner and vanished after a while. A person or a ghost? Or an angel?!

More blessed it is to GIVE than too receive ! Brian & I TITHE (10%) our NET INCOME which we use to help the CHURCH ~ YMCA ~ Salvation Army etc etc. We also find that by giving to Organistions we get more involved ! Brians Parents are Tithers so that is a principle Brian shared with me. For US tithing is a basic principle NOT an obligation !

One would say, \'I won\'t give because I grew up a dirty poor orphan suffering where nobody gave a damn care to give me even the residue of what was luxuriously feasted, I had to work extraordinarily to afford a meal once a day until I could force some avenues, to become a vendor at a tender age, rising from the dust on my own till now and I am rich, so tell me is it fair to give and to who because the world is full of people who do not care for me\"
Still the mandate is a dictation, GIVE, not to join the group of selfish people by repeating their mistake by avenging to the needy who are just in your prior situation. so for humans, every reason is a reason to give mattering not that they do not appreciate.

Fine write Gold.

Ahh Albatross - always sets me off and away and I struggle to get back to to your agenda.
So, bit of introspection here - I view the statement you make, and ask which applies to me? I confess the first stanza, with the exception of the last line and half of the penultimate line - that\'s me.
The line, the truth, for me would read: \'I do not give to many because they don\'t deserve it and because I\'ve only got limited resources\' - Not much of a poetic line, though is it?
Stanza two - They will go straight down the gurgler in this rat shit societal system if they don\'t save something for themselves.
Stanza three = Believe me, you don\'t always get back, but not to worry as I didn\'t give everything in the first place.
Take it easy, Andy and do save something for yourself and yours.

Very true Goldfinch but we must be careful of not making people feel bad for not being giving. Many folk are not able to give of themselves for many varied reasons and as such they are no worse or better a person than the givers.
To be at a stage in life where we are sufficiently at ease to be able to give of ourselves is probably because we have been given something, somehow which has led us to want to.
Many carry or live under a burden which in itself can find them needy without fault.
