Spot on - be proud of who you are, walk up straight and always keep our chin up - don\'t look down - look forward - and you go far wrong.

A fine write Goldie. That\'ll be me then - ramblings. Well, when are both in 1066, that is?! Now you know this is me, and not someone false! Only us two are millions of years old. Or should I only speak for myself? heehee.

What a great poem, Goldfinch60, with great sentiments so well expressed.

We\'re at similar stages in life, and it\'s easy to think like Betty Davis, complaining in her famous quote,: \"Growing old is not for sissies!\"

But I prefer, like you, to focus instead on gratitude, and have always loved Kurt Vonnegut\'s quote in Cat\'s Cradle: \"God made mud. God got lonesome. So God said to some of that mud, \'Sit up! See all I\'ve made, the hills, the sea, the sky, the stars.\' And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around. Lucky me, lucky mud.\"

Lucky you, Goldfinch60, to have a poem like that in you, and to be able to share it here - lucky us.

Will

WELCOME GOLDFINCH ~ You will find MPS a very nice site and ~ if you comment on the poems of others (as you have on mine) you will find they will reciprocate (as I am doing now) ! There is a wide age range from Teens to 80+ so your elegant poem is relevant to all ! Every day we are all a day older ! Your poem is very optimistic and a reminder that Retirement is not an early death ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)

It seems as our lives have driven along parallel byways - I could easily have written something similar - a good read and so well written.
