Sadly tho\' self harmful behaviours in all their many forms is a complex topic and many, if not most individual that undertake such behaviour, are not attention seeking, poor copers or inadequate .. but rather have learnt to adopt patterns of behaviour that serve primarily to release inner tension .. hence the term tension release ..
