Remembrance Requests

Bear with me, Orchi, this is going to take some concentration...
I began reading “Remembrance Requests” with full theological seriousness…candles lit, scholars nodding solemnly over the Psalms.
Then from beneath the pews…a faint glug…glug…glug…
Naturally I assumed this was the sanctuary basement aquarium again. But no. Popeye had arrived with a jar of spinach brine announcing a Green Glugging Grudge Match to impress Olive Oyl. Brutus, not to be outdone, produced a pickle barrel and declared himself “Champion Glugger of the Seven Seas.”
GLUG…GLUG…GLUG…GLUUUUG…GLUGGLUGGLUGGLUG
At which point I tried to restore order…because beneath the chaos there really is something lovely in your hymn-poem, you know? You keep Psalm 25 clear and prayerful…lifting the soul to God, asking to be taught the right path, and ending with that gentle plea for mercy rather than remembered sin. The theme of remembering fits the title beautifully…turning the hymn into a quiet request for God to remember mercy and forget our failures. It works very well, my dear friend.
Alas, the Green Glugging Grudge Match intensified.
Popeye: GLUG!
Brutus: GLUGGLUG!
They were so busy competing they didn’t notice Olive Oyl had quietly swum off with Ol’ Tom, who had apparently taken a rare break from knitting. What they were doing on that island remains…diplomatically…unreported.
The gluggers, however, are still going. And Psalm 25 continues bravely above the burbling glugs. Again, and all this rubbish aside, well done, my friend. 🤣🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Orchi, this captures the heart of Romans beautifully… the emphasis on Christ acting while we were still without strength carries real weight. The way you frame the passage in hymn form gives it that steady, reflective cadence these words deserve.
Just as I was sitting here nodding thoughtfully…Olive Oyl appeared beside the pew and told me how much your poems mean to her…how they lift her spirits and steady her faith.
At which point Brutus burst through the sanctuary doors looking around suspiciously… “Where’s that glugging Popeye and his saber-brandishing friend Wan Ken? Oi be furious at him!”
Olive immediately screamed out a large, gaseous glug… “Not now, Brutus… we’re having a perfectly lovely theological moment.” And with that the peace of Romans returned…while I swooned from her breath. 🤣 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Grant Us Graces
Tristan Robert Lange said:
My friend, this has that classic hymn cadence that carries the psalm beautifully… it reads like something meant to be sung in a small stone church with light pouring through old glass. The language of refuge and abundance really comes through clearly here.
But somewhere around the second stanza my brain wandered… and now I cannot unsee SpongeBob doing situps in the sanctuary basement aquarium… compressing his sponge belly and making little glug…glug…glug noises with every crunch. I had surely thought is was P and Ol\' T at it again, but nope, that wiley sea sponge in tighty whiteys. 🤷♂️🤣
The river of pleasure apparently now sounds like underwater core exercises. 🤣 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

From Sorrow To Joy
Tristan Robert Lange said:
Orchi, there’s a beautiful reverence in this…you can feel the hymn structure carrying the Psalm with real care. The movement from sorrow into dancing lands exactly where the heart of Psalm 30 lives. It reads like something meant to be sung aloud…steady, faithful, and full of gratitude.
And knowing you, my friend, somewhere in the background Tom is probably already knitting a ceremonial tube sock trophy for the Baters\' TV award ceremony while Popeye sits nearby creating those unmistakable spinach glugs from the can…which, frankly, is enough to make even the most determined baiters pack up and leave the dock. Incorrigible crew, the lot of you. 🤣 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Well done. Your poem revolves around themes of worship, the nature of God’s mercy, personal transformation from mourning to joy, and the importance of gratitude in the believer\'s life.

Tristan Robert Lange said:
Orchi, this made me glugging smile…there’s a gentle honesty here about praise not always coming easily, yet still choosing it anyway. That tension feels very real. Fido at the end made me feel safe until...oh now...even he\'s hearing the glugs now, too. 🤣 A thoughtful and human reflection, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Great job. Your poem humorously explores the seemingly pointless endeavor of writing poetry, highlighting the absurdity and self-deprecation of the poet\'s process. It illustrates a playful interaction between the poet and a talking dog, Fido, who questions the purpose and value of the poems being written.

Orchi, this is deliberate chaos dressed as incompetence. The talking dog interrogation, the timed nonsense, the gleeful admission of wasting lives in 23-second increments…all of it builds toward that last absurd command. So fine. The tavern doors burst open. Enter Popeyeus Maxiums Solus, robes soaked in green brine, declaring the sacred rite of Literary Gluggery. Tankards rise. Foam spills. The talking dog howls. And somewhere in the rafters, 73836594 is already being drafted. Glug. Glug. GLUGGGGG. 🍺⚓🐶
Or...in other words...great, daft write, my friend. 🤣

As I scanned the running sheet of todays poems, I happened upon \'3:36 - Garbage!, by orchidee\' . Now I had a decision to make: was it a hymn? I don\'t mind your hymns, orchi, but too many upset me: here\'s orchi toddling off to Heaven when his time comes, and here\'s me, an unbeliever, could go anywhere or nowhere... thought perhaps I aught to leave it alone, just in case.....Do hope you understand.....
