Preparation Ponderings

In verse 3 about ritual and rite, I mean it in the sense of not overdoing outward things.
We could be so busy observing rites that miss the main purpose of focusing on the Lord.
Not that ritual is wrong, but I saw one over-doing it. He will be worn out before the service even starts! He was waving arms about, bowing here and there, kneeling every couple of minutes, kissing service books, etc. Much more of that and I would have gone potty!

A noble calling we have in raising our concerns (and taking concrete actions) for the poor and needy among us including those living in high dollar, gated communities driving Bentleys and Benzes. And you do exactly that in this poem; well done Orchidee.

Interesting to see this peculiar form of ā€œevenā€ where your using it as ā€œeā€™enā€. Youā€™ve got to love these licenses and liberties we take when writing verse! Yes, we are destined for eternity with our Lord who is most merciful...

Thanks STEVE for a very DROLL ORGAN RECITAL ~ BUT a very apt message about discipleship. \"If any MAN or WOMAN will be my Disciple ~ let them deny themselves (that\'s the first hard bit) take up their cross (that\'s the second hard bit) and follow me (is that really necessary when we have our OWN PLAN mapped out ?) Who would choose to be a disciple ? JUDAS committed suicide and most of the other 11 were martyred ~ do I have a choice ? Thanks for your daily challenge BRIAN & ANGELA

A beautiful poem.

Daily discipleship with the Lord is a challenge but essential to one\'s spiritual development, walk and journey with the Lord and Christ.

The needy in our streets today are getting more numerous. One came into our Church one Thursday morning while I was there and I had a very good conversation with him for about half an hour and he seemed to appreciate that a great deal, it didnā€™t even cost me a cup of coffee as he had bought that when he first came in. If we had known we would not have charged him anyway.

Thanks UNCLE STEVE: Angela here. Your lovely Hymn reminded me that sometimes all we can give is a KISS & a CUDDLE and a cup of cold water in the NAME of JESUS. When Im in the UK I do buy the BIG ISSUE and if someone is BUSKING I always give them something. If someone is just sitting there looking helpless & stoned I pass them by. They could be FRUIT PICKING! I support the YMCA, Night Shelters & Street Pastors & the SOS Bus etc. Thanks for caring love ANGELA XXXX There are Street Beggars in Auckland but mostly People we would regard as Unemployable (for a plethora of factors) in the UK. NZ is a Welfare State and they do care for the Elderly & Disabled & Mentally ill etc. I have never seen a MAORI begging! Fortunately in the N Island it does not get too cold in the Winter for \"Rough Sleepers\".

Tough indeed when a relative is needy. There are more than monetary ways to help. Being poor and needy tears at one\'s dignity.

Sadly, a close relative is homeless. I see him in town sometimes. I have put a picture of town and canal, as the homeless are among the needy. Though to be wise in whether we give them actual money or not.
