SHOOTING STAR

Thank you Louis for a very moving and well written tribute to that Doctor. My wife and I were watching it too last night and could not believe it. He had it all: Brains, Voice, Kindness, even good looks. Reminds us all how fragile life is.

I watched the video this week that they made of his audition in honor of him. I sobbed. He was full of gifts, intelligence, and hopes. What a deep loss.

What a loss of recognized talent and as this tribute depicts the fine doctor\'s star flamed out far too soon. A tragic account of life\'s unpredictable accidents which leave such a sadness behind.

Louis, I am so glad I was sitting when reading your excellent poem, otherwise I would have had to sit down to think!
You write, very eloquently I might add, about something I have thought about a lot.
My conclusion, finally, is that yes, the direction of our life, what we do, where we live etc. is the result of all the little decisions we made as we went along, BUT our essence, our soul, does NOT change.
The alternate reality question though is, in my mind, still wide open.

This is true. Very true. I think about this more than I should. What path should I take, and what path will lead me to the least amount of regret. Thank you for this, it was wonderful. Happy writing Louis.

THE LIGHT YOU PROVIDED
Renzi said:

Wonderful. We all as humans, i believe are here to figure out who we are and when we do, embrace that with all of our might. Proudly. Whether we differ from the *norm* , our parents , our god, family or society. Noone will walk in your footsteps or see the world through your eyes. That is your gift.
A quote in which i have tattooed on me goes \' believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense\'

I wonder if you need to apologize. You are alive, out of jail (assumption)
not on drugs (assumption) and can think and write. Nicely done.

THE LIGHT YOU PROVIDED
Nicholas Browning said:

Eh, you can\'t really expect someone to follow your example. Life is all about finding your own way, making your own mistakes. It could be a friend, a parent, a loved one. Anything. Who knows? I don\'t. But what I do know is that \"light\" shines brightest in a dark place. Maybe you just weren\'t far out in the dark enough to see it.

FredPeyer said:

Great poem Louis,
The \"you\" could refer to Dad, older Brother, Jesus, or even an uncle (for a guy), or Mother, older Sister, Jesus, or even an aunt (for a girl).
But the \"you\" could also represent our own inner self, the person inside us we want to be, but cannot live up to.

Michael Edwards said:

I see it as someone berating someone else for not giving the support he wanted. My father wanted me to get an apprenticeship and was so disappointed when I chose a different path - he couldn\'t see why I wanted to work in an office and could see no future in it - however I must add that he was so proud when I finally proved myself.

Thanks LOUIS ~ Many people cross our paths ~ some set examples and some show us the way. But in my experience ~ We (Men especially) tend to plough our own furrow and often end up in the DITCH ~ sometimes with the Tractor on top of us ! Yours BRIAN

This is an excellent, very thought provoking poem Louis. Indeed, when do we give up riding at windmills? A question that does not occur to any under 60! So far I haven\'t given up, but I choose my battles wisely :-)

Gary Edward Geraci said:

Spot on! Bravo! For me, your last two lines \"We shall see...we shall see.\" prophetically ring more of hope than doubt, more of retributive justice than black, desolate nihilism. Your source is a well formed conscience my friend.
