The Cost of Living

What worries me is the cost of dying. I can\'t afford to die, it costs more than living. Thanks for reminding me of these costs.

The Cost of Living

It is what keeps many (but certainly not all) with their \'nose to the grindstone and their shoulder the wheel\'.
I personally cannot complain, but I have a feeling there should be another way...and that\'s being super polite about it!

Creatures of Nature
sorenbarrett said:

I could\'t agree more. We, in our arrogance, tend to aggrandize ourselves, when we are nothing more than another part of nature, no more and no less than the others. I love the last two lines.

\'Our very biology challenged our mortality\'
as our very mortality, ravaged
our cognitive capacity to appreciate
breath...
(I too believe in that universal oneness of all things
and wonder, like Spinoza
at the sheer majesty of it all)
a read, that transports me
beyond reality\'s dark sky limitations
dear Poet, thank you!

Last night we walked in a fairy-lit rooftop garden (a mini forest actually) and saw a stylised glimpse of home. That we are by nature part of something truly magnificent makes a primal tug and beckons us home.

Amid the cacophony of modern life it can be well nigh impossible to hear that faint call – special effort required.

Your \"ramblings\" as you call them are examples of fine poetic expressions on the fall of humanity and its dire result - we certainly were once much nearer to being \"creatures of nature\"dear Bella. The final three lines of this perceptive write made me go outside and try to listen..

Blimey Bella, I\'m so glad you added an author\'s note .. I knew I had read and enjoyed this little bit of brevity .. but when I blinked it was gone .. For a while I thought I was having poetic hallucinations & was gonna book myself into my own clinic ...

There is a huge amount of irony crammed into this beaut of a crackin 575 my friend ... Neville

Bella what a great thought. I do try to laugh at the sadness in life, it is better than crying. Life is full of twists and irony why not laugh? It seems that life is just a cosmic joke at times.

I Am One With Creation
L. B. Mek said:

ethereal, is a presence
very few can comprehend
or recognise with realms of tangible
yet, in each essence we exist within
is potential for us to connect
with the universe\'s splendour
beyond the material
and commune/meditate/contemplate
all those wondrous elements of existence,
and writes like yours, dear Poet
remind us
what value there is in trying to achieve
such levels of connection with the nature all around us....
(well, for me at least)
thank you!

it is 05.38 as I hit these keys to type my response .. by coincidence, I have been up since 04.00 and avidly skywatching .. the experts foretold of a magnificent meteor shower .. I saw a handful in the clear, still light pollution free sky above where I live .. but .. and it is a BIG BUT .. as amazing a sight as it was, I quite possibly would have enjoyed it just as much without the lightshow .. and I truly appreciate and can understand everything you have referenced here and share your joy at the first showing of a brand-new day ..... Having not ever lived closer to the poles I have of late found it quite taxing to prepare for the change of the seasons. Where I am currently at it already has averaged 15C for the longest stretch of the day and that\'s way colder than the winters I grew up in. So as long as those layers are comfy and put on we\'re all happy and snug until the return of warmer days. Being one with creation does have health benefits, well being the top of that exciting list!

Your last eleven lines perfectly express feelings in me which over the years I can sometimes feel almost as vividly as your lines, Bella; more often at this end of my life, I think. Many thanks.

I can in no way relate to the first five; if I found myself in such a situation, there is no one or oneness with anything which could encourage me out from under the three quilts and doona to greet the universe.🙂 (Twenty degrees momentarily sounded OK though……. Oh no - that’s centigrade…)

This is sublime Bella, I mean I felt every word.
I adore your paradoxes, \"The silence is deafening.\"
Like that is so paplable, like the ringing you sometimes hear when the space around you is so silent.
I adore the complete admiration of the environment around you, it\'s such a surreal transcendence.
\"I move within its aura\"

Bella this revives many feelings of peace and serenity. Such moments must be enjoyed in their transitory form. This seems true for life in general and if we accept the peace that is each moment, even in the most hectic, we can enjoy that calm even in the center of the storm. A beautiful piece Bella.
