Unless you become like a little child...I still smell God in torn leaves. Enjoyed this view.

Beautiful poem, Augustus, and it brought back childhood memories. I climbed to the very top of every tree in our neighborhood, just as a challenge to myself, and once there I cherished the peace it brought me.

A fine write A. I know I use \'spiritual\' or sometimes \'religious\' words in my poems. Sometimes it\'s more difficult to write simply! lol.

I love this Augustus . Today the works posted have required one to open the mind and dig deep . This one is of the same kind . There is much to contemplate upon these words . All are great but I\'m drawn to failure . I was considered to be in the top 1% of bass fishing tournament fishermen . I won money in 80% of the tournaments I fished . When I was asked how I got so good I told them I failed 99% of the time but I always came back the next day ready to start all over .

I bet you pick yourself up dust yourself off and become successful again. We never want to feel failure again. It is a great motivator. Good luck. Hugs.

This says a lot . Based upon my experience I would have to say the dame as you . It seems the smarter they are the less compassion they have for others and find them simply expendables .

Being a lifelong chess player, I\'d have to choose Chess Master as my favorite of these, though I enjoyed them all. Thanks for sharing them.

We will never know what colors we are really seeing as light is turned to electrical impulses then sent to the brain to be unscrambled and presented as images in the brain . No tworries people see colors the same . And I\'m like Ouback the last stanza has me intrigued and since it is lacking in detail my curiosity level has jumped way up .

I\'m going to miss you when you\'re gone . But I will catch up with you before it\'s too long . Life was great up to a point but I wouldn\'t want to do it again . I\'ll meet you in a place of no pain . Where everyone is smiling all the time . You can tell me about your life and in return I\'ll tell you all about mine . We\'ll be surrounded by all our friends . Our aunts and uncles from long ago . Mon and dad and sis and bro and of course Jesus , he told me so .

The research which must have gone into this gives readers so much insight into the exchange when new life is conceived - your explanation engages from the very first line dear friend - these are the vital facts to remember when in silent prayer or meditation. How great the Intelligence behind these arrangements for human life we can at best wonder in awe.

Haiku Attempts
Goldfinch60 said:
Haiku can be challenging. As you probably know by now I don\'t follow the rules of poetry but strangely in haiku and senryu I do. With haiku I always use 5-7-5 and refer to the seasons or nature e.g.
As Spring nears Summer
I look out over my world,
Where deep snow hides spring.
With senryu it is the same 5-7-5 layout but concerned with sentiment e.g.
Stones thrown at others
Are easier to retrieve
Than the words you throw.
Good work though.

How truly delightful to not only see you in video performing in front of the very colours the verse expresses so well but to hear you recite clearly the outcome of colourless lives strikes at the heart of the vital role colour can play. The poem vibrates with a a palette of wisdom with metaphor to match. Thank you dear friend for guiding me to this and am so glad I have at last had the pleasure of finding and reading a fine verse delivered just right. - love the beret by the way !!
