India is a land of extremes and contrasts. The Taj Mahal remains an unparalleled wonder of construction. It took 20 years and 20 000 workers to build. At places the marble blocks have impressive acoustics. The Taj has been described as the most costly tomb in the world. It was meant to be the memorial of Mumtaz Begum, the Emperor\'s wife, but after the death of the Emperor it was decided to bury him, too, by the side of his wife. Soman Ragavan. 25 January 2025.

The poem is about a father who was kept by force at the bridge in New Delhi and prevented from going on to see his dying son at his home village in Bariapur, Bihar. His son died. The father was held up because of the lockdown during Covid. Soman Ragavan. 25 January 2025.

My dear friend this poem brought a lump to my throat, tears to my eyes and pain to my heart, for all those who suffer and die because of the ignorance of mankind. As you so eloquently say, why should peace be so hard to find? If only we had the will to give it a try, to look past our differences and embrace our commonalities, we might just make this world the place it was meant to be. A stunning write dear poet!
