What a gem of a poem, S. Zaynab. Hongera! You do such a marvellous job of replacing those \"precious\" metals that many of us worship, with precious qualities most should aspire to. Thoroughly enjoyed this and thank you for sharing.

There\'s a lot of beauty in this poem: Comparisons that are heart-felt, the value of human consideration over sparkling gems, and the transient nature of mankind.
However, let me say this knowing I and everyone else is guilty of this, your poem would be all the more powerful if reduced down to its basic elements. Consider this: just the first two lines of each stanza, and even those somewhat condensed, and the final stanza cut to just one line.
Although the rest are beautiful words they do not add to what you were trying to achieve.
A beautiful poem none the less but more powerful if cut to the quick. - Phil A.

HI FRIEND ~ BRIAN HERE ! I love every word of your exquisite Poem. I have studied Geology and I love Gemstones. We teach Gemology @ College and it is a wonderful subject. They are beautiful in their rough state and even more beautiful when they are cut & polished ~ just as people are. I have a collection of semi-precious gemstones which I use to give talks to Seniors (60+). Every Gemstone you mention has its own *Quality & Mystique*. They all have their own application in Jewelry & Religion. I like the way you mention the Spiritual Aspect of Gemstones in your elegant *ODE to GEMSTONES*. Many of them are mentioned in our Holy Book the BIBLE. Each of us are like *Gemstones* and we can be honed & polished ~ as your poem suggests ~ and fitted for Gods Service. Thanks for caring & sharing ~ We have saved it as a Fave ~ AMEN !

Blessings & Peace & Joy
Love BRIAN & ANGELA

exceptionally nsync with what I recollect about mine childhood playtime, particularly those prepubescent summer days, when thyself and sisters, more so the youngest versus oldest found me inebriated with unbounded obliviousness, while prancing as an animal of choice such as ponying up antics of a horse.

tell me more about your magical moments merrily mutating from one (in)animate creature and another.

Fantastic stuff! I did love playing around with my older sister, although I was made to think it was not right! Some adults loose that child light or never got given the right.

Keep up the write

O\' human heart
Reivax Camlost said:

It\'s been a fair while since this was written, but I do recall you once asking me to comment on your most recent poem, and I never did; by my calculations this was the poem that was written most recently at that time. And it\'s quite a wonderful piece; I especially appreciate the notes of assonance and dissonance that you wove together between the lines. You preserve the lyrical quality of the poem when read aloud through cleverly arranging the meter and the rhymescheme to act continuously between transitions—a delightful stroke. The subject matter also really resonates, the nature of the heart troubles me often; how we can hold both love and hatred, violence and beauty, all seemingly equally sublime in nature or else equally base when considered against the weight of whatever things we hold as truly pure or good. To resolve that question with a return to the simple intuitions of humanity in such a noble fashion, that\'s admirable, I think.

A work of emotional ultraviolet, methinks. Bright; exciting. It glows. Alternatively witty and deep, this one doesn\'t compromise feeling or genuineness for literary appeal, but then, it doesn\'t really need to.
