Sadness, yes, as a dolphin swims in a polluted sea. No, I don\'t see a woman\'s face. Mushrooms, yes in a gravy over steak, any time of year.
Michael, this short poem and awesome art are a dynamic duo. For all the \"sadness\" seen by everyone in the artwork, there is also a brightness of hope , I guess, that is present also. Just great stuff. - Phil A.

I can visualize image of her in this abstraction, a great piece.
I can\'t paint in color, can\'t see the depth, so I stay with charcoal and minimalism.

Very interesting juxtaposition of Painting \'n Poem Uncle Mike ~ which you may not have fully appreciated ! Im back from the field trip so my visual senses (and imagination) are high ! When I first saw the painting (as orientated) I saw a a Young Lady (one track mind ?) with her face to the pillow ~ floating in space and covered by an ephemeral blanket ! Her arm & hand are also visible ! How would I title it ? SADNESS ! WHY ? It shows in her face ~ silky wet with tears ~ as (white) mushrooms in spring time ~ TOUCHE ! Of course you knew that and (as so often) were just teasing ! ?
Blessings & Peace in all your work with PEN \'n BRUSH
We are ALL blessed by your Posts ~

If u put u into that that theory then the whole thing lightens up.
It\'s much lighter when onces become ounces.

So we were all conned as kids were we? When teacher read a story beginning \'once upon a time\'.. because the next time she read it, it should have been \'twice upon a time\' etc...
No wonder i grew up confused. My chicken never quite made it across the road you know.

You said once, more than once
Is there ever only one Once
I\'ll contemplate on this once
Not twice or more, just once.

Thnx for being there more than once

Language and its strange means of pronunciation is a matter of where and who we are at that moment -- loved your fun-rhyme today Mike and am waiting in line for a painting - -- soon maybe.... ?

Michael,

Today is the anniversary of the day I set foot on American soil many years ago! An interesting coincidence that you decided to write your poem about the word ONCE. A word that sparks an unpleasant memory that happened many years ago! Today I laugh about it!
The first time I was asked to read a literary passage aloud with the word ONCE in it, this is how I pronounced it... /ōnsé/. Of course, all the other students laughed and made fun! It wasn’t funny then as it is now! It was most embarrassing! All I thought of at the time was how difficult this language (English) was to learn! Whenever I think about that incident, it does make me laugh. Thanks for the memories!

NIGHTS OF SOLITUDE
ANGELA & BRIAN said:

Love the VILLAGE SCENE : Uncle Mike very nostalgic ! Brian has kept me updated on BREXIT and it is on NZ TV. Because BRIAN & I both voted to REMAIN (as did you)in 2016 : Your poem rang a distant (BREXIT) BELL !
NIGHTS of SOLITUDE can make us imagine (V 1.) PreBrexit days : \"Dreams of Union\"
V 2. The consequences SEPARATION ! Unthinkable ! GOD (King of all Creation) put us in Europe and in Europe the UK should remain ! I value my joint citizen ship of both the UK & SPAIN !
V 3. Those who voted BREXIT had a vision : PAST VANITIES (The late Victorian Era ?) could be restored !
How deluded they where in NIGHTS of SOLITUDE ! Correct me if Im wrong : but thats how I interpreted the Poem !
Blessings and JOY in your ART & MUSE !
Peace & Love : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
