A COMPILATION OF COUPLETS
BRIAN & ANGELA said:

THANKS MICHAEL ~ Good value 7 for the price of ONE ! SO I have decided to rank them ! 1. (No 7) Apposite for Steve Andy & I ? 2. (No 4) Resonates with a certain so called \"Gentleman\'s Dinner\" in LONDON ! 3. (No 5) Visions of ANGELA ! 4. (No 2) O Yes I remember it well ! 5. (No 3) JOY really does disperse SORROW ! 6. (No 6) Mountain Streams (like Mountain Love) require a little SUN (TLC) to sparkle ! 7. (No 1) I am much too young to have experienced this ~ yet !
To my (intuitive ) mind the VISUAL complements the COUPLET ! The couplets are about the vicissitudes of life which are often conditioned by decisions ! To my mind the visual is about DECISION exemplified by the crossroads ! There is also a sinister Creature lurking on the LHS. Decisions are always influenced by a plethora of factors. The overall message for me is \"Always LOOK TWICE ~ before you LEAP ONCE ! Thanks once again for a very thoughtful post ~ on FRIDAY ! Yours with His Heart on His Sleeve ~ BRIAN ~ Fait Acompli !

OLD MAN

I have to assume that this is a tribute to your grandfather. Beautifully written, Michael! In these four short stanzas you succeed to paint a whole picture of him. Kudos, well done!

Thanks Michael ~ Ever since the 1840\'s PHOTOGRAPHY has been a great visual record of Social History prior to the we relied on painting which (as you know) are often stylised ! Love the picture ~ love the poem ~ Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN ~ If one painted that in Art Class (Old Man with DOG feeding a LAMB !) it would lack the LOVE ! Keep opening PANDORA\'S BOX for us ! B.

I thought this would be a bit complex, going by the title. The pic and the poems seems to go together. Is that your brain working, in the pic?! Good write Michael.
Too much thinking now - got headache! heehee.

As Fred said, that is a great painting, so much to see in it.
There is much to see in the words as well, words can have much to see in them and strangely have the same effect on me as the painting.

First of all Michael, the painting is absolutely gorgeous! Now to the poem: If you think this is bad, I would really like to know how bad, bad, looks like! I love it. So here is my take on it: If your fortune goes down a bit, according to your own statement of opinion, you are free to look at it in the abstract. Which means you have enough money left to live happily ever after! So, how can I criticize that? You have to do a lot better to write something bad! ;-)

I think the result is more than \'okayish\'! You not only followed the rules of this poem, but at the same time managed to convey something tender, meaningful and beautiful at the same time. Kudos!
Do me a favor though, write something real bad so we can rip you apart instead of having to look for more and more nice things to say! :-)
