Oh so nicely done. Kept me in suspenders and then slipped me the answer. Great story line.

Wonderful. Mesmerising story which asks so many questions in my head yet leaves me satisfied. I\'m going to read this several times.

Winter soldiers
Philip said:

Nice words.
I always look at the oak leaves, by far the last to fall. We have a 150year old oak tree at our farm, a wonder to behold all year round.

A truly relatable example of using metaphor to its best in this meaningful tribute to nature

Winter soldiers
L. B. Mek said:

\'Oak leaves hold their positions at all costs.
They have survived the storming
of the Autumn’s gusty winds
but now some may be lost
in the attacks that are forming\'...
wonderfully captivating first few lines, to what is a subtly brilliant musing of the nature within \'willingly giving\',
thought provokingly contemplative in tone and delivery, a wonderful read
my first from you this calendar year, what a gem you\'ve chosen to share dear Poet!
(forgive my overzealous - cringe inducing nature, please excuse it as mere naïve enthusiasm for all things \'poetic\')

Winter soldiers
Michael Edwards said:

The nearest oaks are some distance from my house - I have a wall enclosed garden and yet each year I have many oak leaves across the lawn. They have a life of their own.

Those \'winter soldiers\' may have lost their lives but the oak has survived to be rejuvenated once more.

The craft, construction, rhythm; I can take that poetry all day (and yours here is exceptional) - even if it\'s about love.

A gentle but powerful lament Phil. - - as your words aptly say - -each day can hurt when distance pushes itself between lovers .

Well, like I said a few minutes ago.. I was gonna hit the sack ... Am so glad I postponed that end of day ritual ... Reading this was much more fun...

and if this is your first attempt at story writing, you are sure gonna be a force to be reckoned with once you got a few more under your belt ... this is super stuff.. credible and fast paced throughout and, with a few twists and unexpected turns ...

All in all a most satisfying pre retirement distraction ... night night ..

The Interview
Fay Slimm. said:

I could not help but read this tale again and again before writing a sensible comment Phil - - - poor Ruth Biddle it seems had no chance after poaching and was ready to end her life yet was kept in cells and administered drugs - writer or interview subject maybe but her psychiatrist uncle wanted her treated - - for what outcome I wonder - - - an innovative piece of writing my friend and a very intriguing read.

The Interview
Neville said:

writing as a clinical specialist in psychiatry myself ... it would be easy to jump to diagnostic conclusions .. something I have always tried to avoid ... also something hard to not do when a gun is being held against ya temple ... and I aint talking place of worship ...

I love the random yet seemingly seamless flow of this post Phil reminds me of an abstract loose associative and mildly clang reflective thought shower ...

Never heard of Ruth Biddle till now ... I could go on but still suffering from seasonal flu symptoms and writing from my sick bed ....

Whatever the case I think this is great and hope others will follow in the wake I purposefully leave behind .....
