You were potentially at the wrong place, but definitely at the right time, Phil.

BTW Never heard \"downright ransom-like\" as a description of the competitive qualities of crowds before. Sums them up perfectly.

We must never underestimate mother nature that\'s for sure, your imagery glorious and I\'m so glad you were safe dear Phil, at least knowing now the dangers, unfortunately there are so many. A brilliant thought provoking piece. 🌹

Well you certainly kept me on my toes from beginning to end, superb, and well done for the last lines 🤣 beautiful rejection and imagery. I seem to be forever at the doctor\'s these days and so I can certainly relate. My dear Phil, stay well and oh such a joy to see you home with us here at MPS where you should always be. 🌹

A wonderful write Phil. \"SHE\" is obviously someone you adore so much that you build your garden to please her. I know this because I do the same myself. 🌹

Such emotion and then to the last lines, love is everything and is written in each of our souls. I cannot help but think I have read this one before. It\'s beautiful showing a gentleman has a heart. 🌹

this may be another love poem, but who on earth is gonna complain about that ..
I sure aint and I doubt anyone who passes by this way will either .. I was hooked from the start and that unexpected summative line at the end not only landed me, it left me feeling gutted .. I am so glad you are back Phil .. Neville

Yeh – another love poem; a form I can have a certain antipathy towards because of this allergy of mine. But yours are the cream on top and provided I taste them carefully, the reaction is not too profound and by the end quite satisfying.
I felt that to be a good ‘un, Phil.

War
Accidental Poet said:

War can serve no purpose among living species of heartbeat. Hatred and killing of life is not what humans were put on this Earth for. Your poem (as Neville said) hits the nail squarely on the head. Defending ourselves is a natural reaction, but no one should have to in the first place. Excellent write Phil. 👍

War is futile. No one wins, but do you allow the aggressor to stamp all over you without putting up any resistance? It was before my time, but I’m bloomin glad Churchill protected the borders of the UK from invasion. You write a good poem and cover much ground.

The Long Goodbye
Neville said:

while the streets held citizenry a broken & empty heart was clearly left behind .. this is no ordinary poem that bangs on about love and loss .. this carries with it both a forewarning of enforced separation and an aftertaste of bereavement in its broadest sense .. a true mourning song .. with much respect sir I am delighted to be able to leave my mark here now ... The Long Goodbye
Accidental Poet said:

In your very well written poem you didn\'t mention why she was leaving. I\'d like to think she wasn\'t leaving to move away from you. My Sharon moved away at 14 with her family to Los Angeles. Sometimes it\'s not good-bye, but until we meet again. Smile Phil, for the time you had with each other however brief it may have been, I hope for both of you it was worth it. 🙂

I relate to the time distortion which can occur with the occurrence of traumatic events, Phil.
You are one of the very few poets I can tolerate love poetry from.
