Amen!
that\'s the way, Andy
(personally
when i get up in the middle of the night
the cracking bones, keep me company
and the bruises, let me know
I\'m still here
on my own two feet, giving it
all I got
and so i, slide
a little
sway, a tad
shaking it \'all bout\'
then I offer the universe
a glimpse of a smile
sharing
that private joke, where
I amuse
and it affords me
a few more, cherished
breaths..)

LOL bumps and creaks sounds like my body getting out of bed in the morning.
Well fair play to the pair of you, at least you both know there\'s someone there to oil your hinges when the creaking gets too spooky.

Growing old together is and has been our motto, my wife and I. And these days, living on the third floor minus an elevator, we feel this truth each time we engage the stairwell. A lovely poem that is close to home. Thanks for sharing. /Rik.

dusk arising said:
Well I guess I\'m the awkward one because the biggest \'wonder\' of them all for me is our heartbeat. That throbbing in the chest of every living being. What is this amazing life giving pulse we take for granted.
It\'s my supreme wonder and without it - we are nought. We may be able to bring it back sometimes but we cannot create it other than to procreate, which in itself is another wonderful thing.

My dad would always pay except for when my sister and I would tell him, \"No dad, this time we pay\". He always had a tough time letting us pay for him, but towards the end he was giving in. Happy Father\'s Day Andy. ๐

Your daughter knows what side your wallet\'s buttered. On the plus side, you enjoyed the meal and the company, tipping the waitress, the barman. Does she have a birthday coming up.

I recall seeing my first buzzard when they were still rare in early nineties. Impressive and statuesque stood watching me across a field as i drove by. Several years later a mating pair lived in a small wood nearby and we were delighted to see their talons locked twirling fall of mating ritual directly above us.
Yes magnificent soaring hawks, now quite plentiful and can be seen over the city often.
I can see the appeal in your wish. I\'d choose to be a cat. Not just for the nine lives but for the superb beautiful multi-talented creatures they are.
Thank you for taking me back to those memories.

I took on board the words of Max Ehrmann...
\"for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself\".
... and included in that the fortunes and misfortunes life deals out.
Far from perfect in many ways, I count myself fortunate for my lot in life. Your last two lines say it for me...
\"Feel grateful for the troubles,
The troubles that we don\'t have\".
