Very well penned, Andy. So often we hear music as a background without actually listening. But when we listen, that same music can become something much more beautiful.

Yet numbers exist in some things. People in jobs-worth jobs meeting targets, sometimes meeting targets in terms of numbers of people, even if the people they number as treated as trash.

No Holidays.
Michael Edwards said:

I still smile at the words of Ricky Gervaise - there are 3000 gods in the this world, Christians only believe in one - atheists and Christians are, therefore, only one god apart.

Now that\'s interesting - Christians with a capital C yet the word atheist with a lower case \'a\'. A clear case of inequality.

Steps Into My River.
L. B. Mek said:

may we all find solace in what \'rivers\' we can excavate from whatever meaning we glean of life and then, learn the wisdom to carry our \'rivers\' with us, wherever our path may lead...
let those \'rivers\' be our liberators and never, be warped into our \'settling cocoon\' of anchors...
onwards, one step at a time to what next awaits,
till what\'s next is revealed as our final sip: of a lifetime\'s treasured breath...
onwards! my friend, let us dwell as much in our today\'s while cherishing each straining tug of our beloved yesterday\'s, let us \'choose\' to search out those adventures - waiting, for us to realise: how brief a second takes to blink-by...
thanks for inspiring my little reply Andy, a wonderfully thought provoking read

\"Just a thought\"??? Go on Andy - you keep thinking if that keeps you occupied. But I\'m both an atheist and an agnostic. So do come back and we can have a chat - after which you can have more thoughts as you sort that lot out. :-)
Agreed - no holidays. Though it is immaterial now you\'ve retired. So this is your big chance....

I only read recently of one in an accident. He said he came out of it a stronger atheist. Doh! that\'s just digging oneself deeper into a hole, I say.
Jehovah\'s Witnesses don\'t put up Christmas trees, I heard.

Just great - sadly the river through our village is still very high but the wildlife endures - kingfishers, otters, et al.

That lady river flows through your poetry like your inspirational muse. Surely, on the days after your life\'s fulfillment, there could be no finer tribute to your times in the company of your river than a bench for the living to sit in contemplation of the peace she brings.

Can ya do miracles? Can ya walk IN or ON the River, as well a walk BY it? Would ya still need ya welly boots for it?!
I\'ve had to turn back on some walks, along some unpaved tracks. I\'ve not got proper walking boots.

I visited someone in hospital, 29 years ago now. He sadly passed away, but one of the nurses who tended him was a major person in setting up a Cycle Helmet Safety Trust.

What that number means Andy, is that you can use it for 3 minutes at a time only, for a total of 2020 hours. So don\'t bring a book with you, do your business and get the heck out of there! :-)

how amusing, a toilet seat with a use by date...
very observant of you, I would assume that was just their manufacturing batch number

Use By Date?
dusk arising said:

In these days of our later years maybe the toilet seat should have a functional date mechanism topside so that as our memory fades we can bend over in front of a mirror looking at it from betwen our legs to check when we last sat upon the loo for bodily functions to perform...... or is this just another load of crap i should have deposited elsewhere.

I think your number is a manufactured date.... if humans had one of those on their bum it would stop some people telling porkies unless they kept their little panties on.
