A late summer\'s evening - a potent spell!
Louis Gibbs said:

A beautifully painted poem of the season, and with rhyme so subtle it tends to go un noticed. Very well done, sue!

Sue, I am floored, or maybe I should have said I am bbq\'d. This is a beautifully rhymed poem about one of summer\'s most enjoyable past-times: family bbqs. Great job!

Some write Sue and we also went to a barbecue at my daughters last night - well actually all afternoon into evening - all the family gathered - yes memories are made of events like this .

A fine write Sue. Yet we don\'t know what weather we will get. A couple of years ago it went to 90F at the end of September in a freak mini-heatwave!

Yes. That\'s why we party here everyday, to celebrate our good and bad, happy and sad, up and down.

Raise a glass indeed (hic!) one for every poet (hic!). Nice words. But who\'s counting.... each days a challenge to write for and look at the next big number coming your way. 50 now THATS a biggy . I bet you\'re going to find yourself saving up something outrageous for that one. Your work is a pleasure to read.

I read your comment first, so knew when I started to read the poem that most likely you were not talking about another human being. Thought of maybe a cat, or dog. When I got to the glassy eyes I knew it had to be an inanimate object, unless of course it was somebody totally drunk. Did not figure on a teddy bear though, so the surprise stayed intact.
Great poem!

Think you have to give commitment to anything worth doing- it shows in the end result. Thanks for reading and commenting. 😊

Good write Sue. I especially like the line \"Add a little commitment and care\" I cook and I too add commitment and love to my cooking.

You are not baking a cake, you are baking a new world. You must have a giant flour mix.

The cake is absolutely gorgeous. In stead eating it, I would rather display it.

Love the poem, love the cake more.

Thank you so much Sue! Now I finally know where the expression \"one in the oven\" to describe a pregnant woman comes from. We are all baked! :-)

Beautiful cake by the way. As is the other one with the shoe and handbag! Are you doing this professionally? They do look it!!!

Thanks SUE for another Special Poem and Perfect Picture. My MUM was a Confectioner so always baking and decorating cakes ~ she taught me to cook & bake ~ useful when you\'re single ! From ingredients to cake is a perfect example of the maxim \"The whole is always much greater than the sum of the parts\" Verses 1 & 2 illustrate that maxim perfectly ! Verse three then applies it to Society ~ IF ONLY ! Society is so so divided today and now we have to break away from Europe and even the UK is in danger of fragmentation if Nicola has her way ! Under TRUMP America is in danger of disintegrating and the proud cry of EX PLURIBUS UNAM is now an even greater Myth ! At least you succeed with your beautiful cakes ! A very beautifully confectured poem Rhyme ~ Rhythm ~ Octets ~ Super Subject all blended into a perfect ODE ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN Please check my PYRAMID POEM and FUSIONS on pastimes and games ~ Thanks B.

I can identify with this. August has been cooler and much wetter than normal here where it is usually not the case. It rang so true for me.
