Great little tune there, Lorna
I\'ll vote for alcohol in very measured amounts any time. There\'s a very narrow window of opportunity there to feel warm and peaceful but not pissed. Sweets? Nah. Insulin dependent diabetes for almost forty years - all good, the discipline keeps me straight.
Fun write. Utilising a long ago but not forgotten episode or two in my youth, I know that word \'thrill\' is dripping with irony.........

\'Looking to the rear instead of forward
Not escaping the clamp of past fears
The sweat on the brow
Where are the hands of comfort now\'..
escape, from oneself - rarely: works
best to stand firm, confront and what must be shed
before moving on when a path, is shown..
thanks for sharing, dear poet

You have caught the essence of this time of year with such poetic mastery dear Lorna - I love the slow flow of short line cadence - - a first rate write and this little gem goes into my list of favourites.

A cry of appeal to another who cannot be on one place or situation for long is so artfully written here Lorna - really enjoyed the hidden force in this read.

Reminded me of a feeling which comes over me in waves now and again. Parts of me belong all over the place maybe because i have no solid aged roots. But through it all, I am rooted to my surrounds and what is dear to me.

Lorna,

His departure might have left you bereft, but his ‘wanderlust’ may have been satisfied…and in that I’m sure you’ll find some solace.
A great read of your beautifully penned words.

L. B. Mek said:

\'That you are not lonely for me
As I am for you
That time stretches hands

a little prayer, leaking from your heart\'s: purpled ink
in the hopes, that special someone will read
reflect and find a way, back into your forgiving arms...
thanks for sharing, such a wonderfully relatable read
