A story all too familiar, upon hearing it I always check my own shadow to see if it is following me. But then having PTSD from past poetry wars I\'m paranoid. Quite the story my friend maybe the ventriloquist will speak sweeter words. Not too sugar sweet though.

I liked this approach. It is full of mind provoking thoughts and pushes against the current of common thought. No Moses never did get to the promised land in this life and we never should either lest we grow in our complacency and stagnate.

Well, and I like you utilizing it too. This is too perfect and fascinating to boot. Beautifully rendered with a none too subtly haunting poignancy and excellent imagery. Thank you very much for sharing.

Small Ghosts

This reminded me of a philosophy class I had many many years ago. Very small issue but in the third stanza I think it should read Time not Tin but then again I could be wrong. There are so many thoughts branching out of this bush that it fills the space in all directions. I feel some hostility under the surface.

Illogical Soup

I know Dave that poems can be taken many different ways by readers and so this is probably not what you intended but what I saw. I heard this as a proclamation against political correctness and having to sheath our swords, the cowardice involved. Softened language all of which leads to compacency lulling us to sleep over what the real issues are (that can not be discussed any longer) We don\'t even know what we can talk about anymore and we end with an illogical soup. Going to Fav this one based on the subject matter and I think you did a politically correct wording to make it cryptic enough to be acceptable

You have done a fine job of pulling all the threads together and making an excellent job of presenting the bigger picture as a single cohesive whole .. and for that I salute you, Neville

Every generation is the same, we all see things different but the same, it is always worse now than then. We are always the last of the old and the first of the new. A thought provoking write Dan

The feeling that I get from this poem is that neglect contributes to decay and with decay things fall down. Very nicely written with that fifth line reoccuring throughout as an omen of what is to come. Creative and a bit haunting.

Things Fell Down
Neville said:
At first, until around the middle, I now realise I got hold of the wrong stick .. Funny thing is, you managed to help me grab hold of the right one without even trying .. which just goes to reinforce my pre-existing belief that different eyes may see things differently .. Having now got that off my chest, I must hereby confess, I very much enjoyed the duality of my meandering here today .. Just in case you, or anyone else might be wondering what the hell is this guy waffling on about, I initially thought \'Things Fell Down\' was about some kind of war zone or conflict .. The turning point is when it dawned on me that it referred to the disintegration or failing of a relationship ..
Well penned, friend .. Neville

Seeking Revenge

Hmmm the vengeance mentality I am sure everyone has toyed with. Even if it isn\'t followed through, something I\'m sure we can all relate to.
But someone told me once, the best revenge is to succeed.
