This poem seems quite Gothic. The metaphor is a good one and I enjoyed the read. Nicely done.

Chance Of A Kiss
Cheeky Missy said:

Yes, the words eloquently paid tribute to exquisite moments whose inherent seduction subtly stole away the heart, yet to relive them seems it would be a very knife in the same, twisting cruelly at the priceless memories reviving what could have been, was once and is not. Or?

Compared to What?
sorenbarrett said:

Love all the questions that refer to costs and values
\"Just as honesty is unreliable, and integrity tries to cheat,\"
We usually think of this as a black and white value but it is not and this emphasizes this in such a nicely worded manner. I could list many example here but the poem stands for itself and I loved it

The Former U.S.A.
Bella Shepard said:

Somehow we discarded our vigilance, became complacent, apathetic. Life became so easy to place in the hands of others who made promises they could not keep. I harken back to the 60\'s when young people questioned everything, now we question nothing, we simply accept the word of those whose word cannot be trusted. Seldom do we have the courage to make waves and demand accountability, and if we could who would stand with us. Thank you for this poem, for your perspective, I agree completely.

Political discontent has grown so high that I have not even written about it for some time. To me a lost cause without solution. And people polarize on one side or the other not seeing that they are both the same. A heads I win tales you loose game. A good write Dan

The metaphor is a good one and the details fill in. Beautiful images and this does become a short story in itself. I love that you left it with a question.

Sounds like some of the poems I have written and read. An apt description and leaving me with a sense of hopelessness and despair. Very well worded Dan

Strange dreams, where do they come from? Probably an unanswerable question, but that don\'t mean they can\'t drive us to good poetry. It seems the stranger the better. Maybe you\'re just trying to get a \"handle\" on something? Enjoyed your poem. - Phil A.

Can we ever reach the heights of what we aspire to be, or can we be content with what we are simply able to reach. The line drawn, you speak to the desire that propels us forward, and beautifully so.
