Second Hand Smoke
Alan R said:

Overdosing on melancholia
I used to crave you like nicotine
I used to hate you like cavities
Now I don\'t even know who I am anymore
I linger like second hand smoke

This is really beautiful

I Want to Die In Your Arms

Oh Jordan... the first stanza-- no, the entire poem-- describes your poetic persona perfectly... you do \"forget everything\" in your florid maze of images and confessions. You are so adept at rendering the most lurid or ugly references... cigarettes, dirty mattresses, piss, corpse... into a powerful thing of beauty, intensity, and yes courage.
Thank you again!

Cut the Roots

PS I am often reminded that the word \"regret\" is probably the most salient, painful word in the language. The word is a poem all by itself.

I think I was crying in that same coffee shop that day! Yes, been there felt that. I like how you cut the poem in half with a little chorus. Somewhat like a Greek chorus making sure the audience is paying attention! Thanks for making me hurt! Its so beautifully relatable.

I love following the subtle--and sometimes not-so-subtle--evolutions of your approach. You use the same strong skills in different ways over time. This is both a welcome throw-back to those long, dense structures where images just come pouring down in overwhelming, mesmerizing torrents, and your simpler, more literal and direct poems. This piece is full of personal confession and universal, Blake-like symbolism. It is more controlled, almost fragile, compared to those big roaring blocks of text. Delightful.

great imagery, so relatable dear Poet
thank you!
(you capture light within the bleak
that relief of acceptance, realising
all is as nature decreed

The Nightjar\'s Lament
jarcher54 said:

Here in Texas we call the nightjar the nighthawk. Have you ever witnessed their amazing dives? A pair will be flying along hundreds of feet in the air, then one of them will suddenly dive down at a breakneck speed, only to pull up out of the dive just at the rooftops and treetops, with an incredible and unique whirring sound from the wings and tail against the air.
I think it is maybe a mating thing, or just for fun. But it is as earthy and essential as you and your poignant ditties.

The Moonlight Is Disintegrating Into Ashes
L. B. Mek said:

\'I see the morning and its sharp teeth
The orange glow of the sunrise in the distance

I hear a saxophone
I see a city made out of synthetic organs
Bleeding like a symphony

The sea is jutting back and forth
Voiceless \'
