It\'s the need to \'speak the truth in love\', I would say. If it\'s truth only, it can seem harsh, bigoted, \'like it or lump it\'. Maybe if it\'s love only, it can seem soft, wishy-washy, sentimental.
\'What\'s all this sensible thinking from you? I\'m the one who thinks sensibly\'. Fido says to me. lol. He knows.

This poem is very complex for me because I believe in honesty no matter what, yet sometimes, like the poem says, I should consider other people\'s feelings, but I find it hard to consider other people\'s feelings if I\'m going to lie.
This poem explores the moral ambiguity of deception, questioning whether lying can be justified if it serves to protect someone’s feelings or well-being. It challenges the reader to consider if bending the truth is acceptable in certain circumstances, particularly when the consequences of honesty may be painful or harmful.

Thought provoking!
Kindness can sometimes be a valid reason for deception, a little white lie can be more compassionate than harsh truth.

A toungu twister in metaphor and language, I cannot support any liar, however if it was a small change of fiction to make someone suffer less I may well indulge. 🌹 Brilliant theme dear sorrenbarret 🌹

I have always thought that the truth can be poisonous. To lie to someone to protect their feelings is noble and expected among friends.A challenging poem that questions God himself. It made me think.

Demise of a poem
Soman Ragavan said:

The title “Demise of a poem” is problematic. The nature of poetry is such that a poem, once composed, has a life of its own. It goes beyond the reach of the poet himself. Indeed, others (eg critics) can find in it things that the original poet himself did not see. For such is the nature of poetry. It is so complex that even the poet might not fully realise what he has produced. Strangely, other people might be able to decipher the issues.

“(Quoting PHILIP LARKIN).
“Some years ago I came to the conclusion that to write a poem was to construct a verbal device that would preserve an experience indefinitely by reproducing it in whoever read the poem. (.....) “ -- \"MODERN POETS IN FOCUS.\" (Volume 2). (Edited by Jeremy Robson). London : Woburn Books Ltd., 1973.
So, in writing a poem, somehow we expect, in our subconscious at least, that others will be able to dig into the meanings.

Lies of romance
Soman Ragavan said:

Intuition is a powerful force, as well as a mysterious one. It cannot be explained. More often than not, it advises us for the better. But we prefer to throw away that advice. We might live to regret it. Intuition is a power that complements intelligence and reasoning. It operates on laws of its own. But the voice is distinctly there. We ignore it at our own peril.

Words of an old man

The poem masterfully embodies the resilient voice of an elderly individual, courageously embracing the complexities of daily life, memories, and the transformative power of time. It conveys a profound sense of hope and warmth, even in the face of adversity and the ominous threat of life\'s challenges, both literal and metaphorical. Moreover, your poem serves to underscore the vital importance of unbreakable familial bonds, the solace of a loving home, and the simple yet profound joys of life, while concurrently acknowledging the triumphs of aging and the beauty of cherished memories.
This poem elicited profound sadness within me, resonating deeply in my heart. It\'s challenging to navigate a world without familial support, yet simultaneously experiencing a sense of detachment. Aging can be particularly difficult without a support system or individuals to share memories of the past.
