I understand this poem as metapoetic, questioning the purpose of writing poetry. Poetry is often shown to be purposeless, but that doesn\'t mean it doesn\'t have value - in sharing experiences, in connecting people, and in finding intellectual and artistic kin. Poetry also has a therapeutic effect.
