The Edge of Golden
L. B. Mek said:

sadly, nowadays
for a select majority, their passion is reserved
for those political or social activism
victimhood triggers..
and so
I suspect, they\'ll read these words
that you masterfully and succinctly
distilled into poetic brevity
then see your age restriction, categorisation
and reduce: this \'lived-in-truth\'
worded with a poet\'s gift for relatability
as a depiction of risqué playfulness;
and not
pointedly, more meaningfully
as an inked recollection
of experienced true love being actualised
into a physical expression
of sensuality, sincerity and loyalty;
where innately heightened
tantalised, fingertip nerves of spirituality
play those piano keys on flesh
to produce, a melody
of sensation\'s electrifying goosebumps;
a feat, only achieved
when the act of sex, has more meaning
than merely
sating biologically engraved mating cravings
and the excreting of stimulated liquids;
where literally: magically
at that time and in that moment
two people - become one, willingly and wholeheartedly
and impassioned, oh - so, much more satisfyingly;
a wondrously cathartic, artform
of physical and spiritual synchronicity, that few
get to experience this days
where blue pills and morning-after pills
mean, this gifted superpower
to experience
\'edge of golden\': nirvana on earth
as blissful affirmation
to all things, unique about our existence
is wasted, pitifully
as just another aspect of humanity
we take for granted, far - too, easily...

(sorry my friend, I just read your insightful shorty
and these words below exploded from somewhere
deep inside me, I didn\'t know existed
I can\'t thank you enough)..
its those repeated mistakes, we make
that perpetuate, our cycle of bad luck
to add to that hipping pile
of regretted: bad choices
that we can never forgive, and thus
we seldom acknowledge
yet perversely
hardly ever allow ourselves
to forget and shed, instead
carrying them
from one splintered reflection of self
to another, distorted mirrored impression
lost, endlessly dwelling
within that self loathing cocoon, blind
to all those fleeting possibilities
for healing and growth
we allow, to pass-us-by: frequently - wastefully..

Really good use of the double negative in that last line. This piece wins for me in so many ways.
Great mind-play you leave your reader with here too.
Excellent writing Neville and a joy to read.

Neville,

Your poem has made me think of so many moments...especially of days gone by.

After reading this poem and some of the comments, after my long absence due to health reasons, my interpretation is a bit different than some of the other poets’. I’ve personalized and internalized this wonderful write of yours. It has given me a healthy dose of what is to come. I shall accept and welcome each day with a smile.

Thank you.

Sweet, heartfelt, and glorious words.
May your \"parched\" \"garden\" forever flourish and her \"tears\" disappear.
This poem begins sadly yet ends gloriously, somewhat magically. Who would have thought of \"wisteria...weeping amethysts\"?
Like this format you have been using lately. Is it now a signature thing with you? - Phil A

\'Our garden
may well be parched

But the wisteria
is weeping amethysts\'...
(we never miss our water
till the well runs dry
we never miss our woman
till they say: goodbye...)
brilliantly emotive, such a relatable wording
of a cherished love, being expressed proud!
treasured more: for having been grazed
by that harsh bitterness of a lost love\'s, drought..
a great read
imbued with subtle nuances of soothing as well
I enjoyed this, on such an intricately private level
my friend, I thank you!

Sheen
MendedFences27 said:

\"A stolen kiss\" might bring the \"sheen\" back to a blind person\'s eyes. It might also imply \"a seed of a soul\" that otherwise would seem missing. That \"sheen\" becomes mighty important if the eyes belong to a loved one.
Or maybe I just read the whole thing wrong.
The expression of warmness between the two, the unexpectedness of the incident, and the closing line are what drove me to that conclusion. I hope I didn\'t misread you.
And if I did your poem is still masterful in it\'s use of similes for \"sheen\" and clever in how it\'s used to create the moment of the \"kiss.\" - Phil A
