There, too, brings about the subject of not being able to punch and fight back. Uncertaintly is the fear in your poem here. Yes, most people would fight back after being degraded down on the floor, These inflictions of physical damage changes the outlook upon ones own life and the strength to control it through either the physical or the mental ability to control it. When blood is spilt then the suffering begins. For few such lines to read, yet they reveal a thousand words. Powerfully done, my friendd...

Oh wow. This says so much in such few words.... I read it as following a physical beating, that person will take over with an emotional beating against themselves... As if blaming themselves...

Thank you for sharing this one. Definitely stayed awhile to ponder.

Reads like a traditional folk / workers song and has great rythmn.
On re-reading i\'m hearing the instruments, pipe/whistle, violin, accordian/squeeze box and drum.

I\'m also of a mind that soon i shall gather the black berries of autumn and yes those beloved Bramleys.

Really inspiring and a treat to read.

I was there in that orchard so clear was your picture of autumn long past Nev. A fresh morning read of times when living was simple - - and I loved every line.

Outstanding tribute to the fallen and the futility of warfare.
I have never been to such a place as you describe but even photos of them resound with a spiritual reverence which also pours from your words today.

Finely crafted piece which im honoured to place amongst my favourites.

Perfectly poemed these sacred places of fallen heroes - - time stands to attention where blood has been spilled and you capture that silence in this haunt of a read. One of your best again Nev.
