Oh i dunno about good for nuthin..... they make a rather satisfying crunch when u squash \'em.
I usually encounter them hiding in the branches when i\'m blackberry picking. Far fewer of them about lately though. Last year i had a wasp nest in the soil beneath my front hedge. I prepared wasp traps as per you tube videos and they just filled up with blue-bottle type flies so i just kept my distance.
I only got stung once which was as a child on the side of my third finger which hurt like hell.

BRIAN HERE ~ Good Morning Neville. In NATURE & ECOLOGY every living thing has its place and especially WASPS they are an essential part of Natures Cycles & Webs ~ OK they sting but that is part of their defence mechanism ! Visually they add a touch of colour and their NESTS are a MASTERPIECE of High Rise Flat Engineeing built of Wood not Wax !
What good do they do ! WASPS play an impotant role in Pollination - Predation & Parisitism. Without WASPS we would be overun with insect pests and there would be NO FIGS. Some think that would be a good thing ! WASPS pick up YEAST from late season grapes and store it in Winter for the next seasons grapes. So next time you see a WASP ~ DONT kill it but *Raise a Glass* to it AMEN.
Blessings & Peace & Joy
Yours A & B & Smokey ! ! !

Nearly all my long life I have never been stung bu a bee or a wasp but about four years ago I was getting the rotary clothesline in and there was a wasp sitting on top and it stung me as I reached up to get the line down. They hide from you and then get you.!

I\'m gonna be a train driver when I grow up, what you gonna be Albert?
What\'s ya favourite card game Albert - SNAP?
I just read Goldfinch\'s comment about Pierrepoint not taking his work home with him and giggled, well neither does a sewerman.
A delightfully dark piece today yet full of respect for the man who\'s job none would vie for.

It is amazing that Pierrepoint could do his job, he obviously had the ability to put his work in a separate cupboard in his mind and only open it when he had to do his work.
Wonderful words Neville, and I am so glad the ‘long drop’ is no longer with us.

or maybe, just maybe if hindsight were to arrive early - for once, he would realise: those dreams are being realised, in each breath of flicked feather and her sultry shudder of pleasure, at his every whisper of surrender...
sorry my friend your words jolted my keyboard into life and I found myself scribbling away - yet again, I have lost count at the amount of times your writes have inspired instantaneous flow of unfiltered rhymes from me... what a gift you wield!
