On ciompleting reading your post I was left reflecting upon human nature and how it has become our nature to take for granted mother earth amongst the vast majority of folk as we grow from tender shoots in short pants through adolescence. Perhaps as young adults we begin to realise the importance of the nature of our living planet.
So much to be said for human intelligence when we care so little.
For me, yours is are very thought provoking words.

When I think of original, I think of Milton and \'Paradise Lost\'. He broke all the rules and made the demons kind of \'cool\'. I don\'t know how he was originally received--of course now everyone calls him a genius, but did they then?

In an age of questionable civility
to step up to ones responsibility
being true to that nagging conscience
when all around are speaking nonesense
if originality be one\'s holy grail
look to history and miserably fail.

Saxon, dear poet, just with the first two lines \"We are nothing but a by product / Of the times we live in\" I literally wanted to desist and just go straight to the comments to say \"YOU ARE A GENIUS\" but I decided to venture a little further before being that premature. Nonetheless, you did not fail to deliver. This is glorious because of it\'s truth, we\'re all \"chained to the rhythm\" like that Katy Perry song says, and we fail to accept anything that isn\'t already a \"norm.\" Wonderful job.

I believe original thoughts still do exist inside every person just that sometimes it\'s incredibly hard to voice them out or even to identify your own thoughts because of the pressure from society. it takes quite a lot of courage to embrace your own ideas and come forward knowing a whole world might laugh at you, deem you silly and stupid... what is rare is such courage and bravery, i believe. great lines saxon, got me thinking. beautifully done!

\'So who are we if we climb out this echo chamber life?
Would we be free of our labels and fabricated strifes?\'

\'To be truly original is a terrible thing
The loneliest of mountains to singularly climb
In a range of finite product based living
And borrowed time\'..
if every Poet, is owed a legacy
of lines
may these be yours, dear Poet..
(distilled, Veracity
at its most
empathetically: sincere)
I read and learn, and laud
and laud
and Laud!
thank you

This is doubtless true of some people. The original thinker still exists among us though, in large numbers. We must all learn to be our own person, and not be swayed by peer pressure, or what is considered the norm - if we think otherwise.

Originality of thought has always been met with outright objection to the establishment - fine points made here on the loneliness caused for those brave souls who stood and still stand for singular conviction . Great read Sax.

Original thinking did lead to new ideas, inventions, improvisations. Yes lonely for that person at the start; must have been terrifying but exhilarating at the same time. You got me thinking...
Good one.

A different view to creativity, but hey, variety is what makes everyone unique. How I understood you poem is that how much ever we think differently we go through similar experiences of love ,rejection, sadness etc and the same -like cycle of life where we end in death. There could be sarcasm hinted as well. Nice rhymming scheme!

I like your poem - it brought back memories of \'fun\' activities the children wanted me to see/do with them - \"jump in the puddles Mum and see the splash and who gets wetter\"!
I like Rocky\'s explanation too.

Omg, this was such a vivid picture. I feel that the smoke can be referring to the dad\'s cigarette, and the child is so innocent that he doesn\'t even realize what that\'s causing to his father. I feel that long pause as well until we reach the father\'s response, \"ok,\" is so deep. It\'s like the dad doesn\'t want to play, but rather decides to do so because he chose the life of a father and not because he wants to in actuality. Some profound stuff.

Wow, I never thought this deeply about scarecrows until today but it\'s true. They must feel a sense of loneliness but the way you conveyed this makes it seem like they\'re okay with their solitude. Maybe they live in peace. Wonderful poem.

While your scarecrow may feel so very solitary, he is not encumbered by the worries of the world. There may be something to be said for having your head filled with straw, and a smile on your face. Does he know something we don\"t? Such a fun read, thank you for a wink and a smile.

So wonderful that a crow could appreciate a scarecrow. I think the scarecrow loves a life of watching the world around him and wondering if the world can appreciate him. You\'ve done the scarecrow justice Sax. 😉
